The Peruvian Paso horses

The Peruvian Paso horses are worldwide famous for being the best saddle horses as well as for their fascinating gait. The Peruvian Paso Horse’s gait, like a subtle and wonderful play of horse legs which seem to recreate in the air, is its main characteristic. This characteristic has led this breed to be known as “the best saddle horse in the world” since the horseman rides comfortably and smoothly at a speed of nine or ten kilometers per hour allowing a longer travel in which neither the horse nor the rider gets tired. It should be pointed out that other breeds reach this speed in short gallops or fast trot which impact directly on the horseman. The Peruvian Paso horse has a smooth temperament, is dedicated and has a suitable disposition.

Riders’ level of experience

The riding holiday has been designed according to the riders’ experience. At Ampascachi, they evaluate the riders’ skills according to the riding holidays chosen. You may choose the horse you wish to ride, but you should follow tour guide's advice as the horses are Peruvian Paso horses, bred, tamed, and selected in the equestrian centers.

As a rider, you should be physically fit and in good health for the riding holiday chosen to be able to fully enjoy your holiday. A further consideration is your experience in equestrian sports as well as your riding skills for these activities which turn more demanding as speed is increased when riding, as you ride over the rough and variable ground and as ridings get longer.

  • Novice rider: This includes that person who has never ridden before, but he or she is enthusiastic and willing to learn to ride and participate in a riding route.
  • Beginner: Rider that is comfortable at a slow canter, but with a certain difficulty. Able to saddle up and unsaddle without help.

Location

Traslasierra Valley in Argentina is one of the tourist areas which still today maintains its wild landscape and can be admired for its natural sites, which are the least exploited in Argentina. It is placed in the hills of Córdoba Province in the geographical center of the country. Owner of unique and marvelous vegetation in a singular landscape, this valley is almost hidden on the west side of the Cumbre de Achala. Most of the year around, the sun shines over its sandy shores near the rivers.

It was originally the home place for the Comechingones aborigines and today you can see some small dwellings, which show the distinctive characteristics of these people in their customs and traditions. In the visit to the valley, you can observe a unique cultural, historical, and architectural heritage with its museums, the Jesuit estancias, and the churches built during the 18th century.
