There are several kilometers of easy walking through the boglands and if you aren't into walking, there are also cycle routes available.

Guided hill walking is also available in the Slieve Bloom Mountains, an area of uplands, river, and bog which offers serious challenges for the more experienced walker. Under John’s guidance, you can do a day or half-day walking with him, enjoying the great outdoors at its best and you know you will be in safe hands.

Emo Park in Co. Laoise is only 25 minutes away by car, home to the Chomley family and now owned by the state, it is a wonderful place to visit. The house built by Gandon, as was the local Church of Ireland, is open during the summer months to visitors but the grounds are open all year round. Here there is easy walking for families with buggies or for those who like a "stroll in the park".

The lake is full of wildlife from the ducks and swans to birds and fish, a loaf of stale bread is mandatory if you have children with you for the ducks! After your walk, the Cup Cake Cafe is open for a welcome cup of tea, based in the outhouses of the old house, it is a warm and welcoming place to take a rest.

A visit to Newbridge is not a bad plan for a bit of retail therapy, on the way there, you will pass Kildare Village a great retail outlet with lots of bargains but traveling on to Newbridge, a visit to Newbridge Silverware is a real treat. Here, you can visit the vintage clothes museum with garments that belonged to the Beatles, Grace Kelly, Michael Jackson, and many more.

The shop itself is full of wonderful jewelry, books, and lots of other interesting bits and pieces. No visit would be complete without a trip to the restaurant where you can have afternoon tea in proper china cups, or enjoy a lovely lunch of homemade salads, bread, etc.

Cycling

Bicycles can be hired at Lough Boora in the summer months and there are many kilometers of interesting and natural landscape to be discovered - an area rich in birdlife - wild duck, geese, swans, partridge, and the most amazing colors across the bogland - winter or summer, this is a real treat, along with the benefits of cycling along safe cycle paths.

Mountain biking is available in the Slieve Bloom Mts. - a challenging trip, but exhilarating and exciting - your guide will bring you on trails that will leave you breathless!
