Join this horse riding holiday! You will be able to enjoy incredible landscapes, which you will hardly forget, and ride on Peruvian horses passing through little-frequented roads. In only two days, you are able to enjoy an incredible combination of culture and nature with approximately five hours of riding per day. You will know places of great cultural and historical importance related to the Inca civilization. Moreover, you will spend the night with a view on the majestic mountains and walk to the Salineras or salt mines.
You will be accommodated in a tent for one night.
Early in the morning at the hotel, you will get a previous explanation of the tour and delivery of the material corresponding to the program along with the conditions of service. Those must be signed before begin the tour. You will go by taxi to the local public transportation terminal where you will take a minibus that will take you to the Chinchero whereabouts. That place is the first objective of the tour. During the trip, you will enjoy the spectacular landscapes.
The horses will be waiting for you at the Chinchero where you will receive a brief explanation on the handling of the Peruvian Paso horse, a demonstration of how to ride it, and the familiarization with it which will be useful during the tour. Later, you will start the ride to the Piuray Lagoon located at 3,450 meters above sea level. This lagoon is the drinking water supplies to the city of Cusco from the time of the Incas who brought their waters to the Imperial City through underground aqueducts.
The lagoons of Piuray and Huaypo, although they are distant, are united by the legend about its origin which tells that the sun god asked Manco Cápac that his twin sons they will accompany in their decline and when the moment arrived, they discovered that the son, who walked farther, it had become the Huaypo lagoon and the daughter in the Piuray lagoon.
After visiting the Piuray Lagoon, you will ride, passing through the town of Chinchero, towards the beautiful Laguna de Huaypo (3,400 meters above sea level) where you will make a picnic to take lunch on the shores from the lagoon. Afterward, you will go on the horses to a quiet place with a view privileged of the mountains and snow-covered of the zone. After this break, you will continue the walk. You will enjoy the natural beauty of the region of a varied flora and fauna in which the migratory and native birds stand out. You will also know the agricultural activity that they carry out the peasants of the area.
After having breakfast and enjoying the beautiful sunrise, you will begin your horseback ride to the archaeological complex of Moray or "agricultural experimentation center Inca" as it is also called. Moray is located at 3,385 meters above sea level and 38 kilometers, the northwest of the capital of the Inca Empire. It constitutes an important archaeological complex of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, being one of its most interesting attractions. The "greenhouses" or agricultural "laboratories" Incas consist of circular terraces, built in large holes that used to preserve the seeds and crops.
After visiting that fabulous site, you will continue the cavalcade towards the Salineras but before arriving at them, you will make a stop on the way to take lunch. You will ride on your horses to a quiet place, with a privileged view of the mountains and snow-covered of the zone, that will allow you to enjoy the picnic to plenitude.
After the break, you will continue the walk to the Salineras or salt mines, located at 40 kilometers from the city of Cusco and at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level, which constitutes a large extraction area of salt for human consumption dating from the pre-Columbian era. These mines are made up of about 4,000 natural salt water wells, about 5 meters squares in length, located in the skirts of the hills and you can still appreciate the ancestral method of obtaining salt. The salt mines they represent an important source of work for the residents of Maras and other nearby towns.
After admiring the singular beauty of the place and capturing that fabulous images that appear before our eyes with the camera , you will continue the ride to the picturesque town of Maras. In Maras, you will say goodbye to the horses and the local team that accompanied you throughout the travel. There, you can take a taxi to the branch and you will have the option to take the public local transport towards the city of Cusco, towards the town of Ollantaytambo, or towards the city of Urubamba.
You can experience this beautiful adventure at only an hour and a half from Cusco. The transportation can be arranged for you especially or by using public transportation. You can bring your family and friends and enjoy another gift from the Peruvian Land.
