You will love this tour for the unique opportunity to combine two outdoor activities: hiking and horseback riding. It has an itinerary where you will ride or hike every day in a new environment. After five days of hiking through the mountains of Khangai, spend four days on horseback in the Orkhon Valley. This balanced adventure tour gives the opportunity for beginning horse riders to experiment their first gallops in the steppes of Mongolia. Btt Nature worked on their saddles to suit both the Mongolian horse and the Western rider.
You are going to be accommodated in various accommodations along the way as follows:
Welcome to Mongolia! Your English speaking translator will be waiting for you at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN). No lunch is included. You will visit Gandantegchinlin Monastery and the National Museum of Mongolian History. Dinner will be downtown and overnight at a two-star hotel or similar (twin or triple room).
You will have breakfast and drive to Khogno Khan Park. Picnic lunch will be en route. The first short hike will be to the Ovgon Khiid Monastery and in the Elsentasarhaï sand dunes. Dinner and overnight stay will be in tents in the wilderness, with mattress and shower tent.
After breakfast, drive to the Tsenkher Hot Springs. Picnic lunch will be en route. You will enjoy a relaxing bath in the hot springs. Overnight stay will be in a yurt camp (two to four people per yurt in individual beds; shower and toilets are in a separate building).
These four days are spent hiking through the Khangai Mountains that you will cross towards Southwest. From the hills surrounding Tsenkher, you will reach the peaks that dominate the Orkhon Valley to over 2400 meters.
You will discover Tovkhon Monastery, one of the most sacred places of Mongolia, nestled high in the mountains. You will then descend through larch forests to the Orkhon Valley and its famous waterfalls.
Every day, you will hike between four and six hours in gentle mountain terrain. The nights will be spent in tents in the wilderness, with mattress. The 4x4 vehicle will join the group each night with camping equipment.
On the evening of day 7, you will drive to the yurt of a nomadic family. This is the opportunity to discover the unique lifestyle of Mongolian nomads. The night will be spent in a guest yurt close to the family yurt.
These four days are spent trekking on horseback through the famous Orkhon Valley. Every day, you will ride between four and five hours, depending on the riding ability of the group, and therefore the pace of the ride.
The first three nights will be spent in tents in the wilderness, with mattress and shower. The vehicle will meet you for the picnic lunch (nothing to carry on horseback), then in the evening to set up camp.
On the last evening, you will arrive at the Karakorum. Overnight will be in a yurt camp in Karakorum (two to four people per yurt in single beds; shower and toilets are in a separate building).
You will have breakfast and visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery. Depart to Ulan Bator where you will arrive in the afternoon. Have a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon, you will attend a show with traditional dances, music, and songs from Mongolia, especially the amazing Khoomei.
No dinner will be included, to let you choose among the varied dining opportunities offered by Ulan Bator. The night will be spent at a two-star hotel or similar (twin or triple room).
You will be transferred to the airport after breakfast.
Mongolia is a unique destination, having a mixed culture of modern lifestyle and nomad lifestyle. You cannot name any other country that has kept the traditional nomad lifestyle and untouched steppes.
