Located in northeastern Washington state, Bull Hill Guest Ranch features authentic ranch vacation experiences where you can enjoy guided trail riding, cattle driving, trap shooting, and more. If you are feeling sleepy, you can choose between the luxurious cabins, the ranch cabins with a rustic western theme decoration, or the two canvas glamping tents to spend the night. Bull Hill Guest Ranch has the perfect accommodation type for you. The only accommodation type for solo travelers is the glamping tent. Luxury and ranch cabins have at least two people.

Bullagio luxury cabin

The deluxe cabin, nicknamed “Bullagio” for its luxury accommodations and private driveway, sits on the highest point of the guest ranch compound and comprises two queen bedrooms, one king bedroom, two baths, a kitchenette, and a washer or dryer. Hardwood floors, custom linens and bed covers, large picture windows, leather furnishings, and Western art make this the perfect retreat for the corporate executive or family reunion. Sorry, no pets are allowed and the limit is six persons.

Lonestar luxury cabin

Named for the Lonestar state, this newest addition to Bull Hill sprawls “ranch-style” across one level, comprising two queen bedrooms, one king bedroom, two baths, a kitchenette, and a washer or dryer mudroom. Hardwood floors throughout with Italian tile in baths, air-conditioning, custom linens and bed covers, leather upholstered furnishings, and Western art make this the perfect retreat for the discriminating visitor or executive family. Sorry, no pets are allowed and the limit is six persons. Located adjacent to the horse barn with a private driveway, this is the most remote cabin from the Cookhouse and other guest cabins.

Family ranch cabin

The ranch cabins are your lodging facilities at Bull Hill Guest Ranch. Strategically located in a private setting against a backdrop of cedars, cottonwoods, or aspens, the seven cabins, with no two being alike, are decorated in a rustic western theme. (Named “Virginian”, “Ponderosa”, “Lonesome Dove”, “Rawhide”, “Rifleman”, “Maverick”, and “Gunsmoke”). Inside these spacious two-story cabins, visitors will find all the modern conveniences of today.

Glamping tent

This is as glamping as glamping gets. Completed in 2012, the two canvas glamping tents, also known as safari tents, bring back a tradition that began when Bull Hill Guest Ranch first opened in 1995. Each tent is just 100 feet from the Shower House, where each tent has its own private bath and shower. This “camp” site harkens back to the days of luxury lodging in Yellowstone or Glacier National Parks. Fully furnished and wired for electricity, these tents, fondly nicknamed “Lakota” and “Laredo”, provide a connection with the great outdoors that the other lodgings just cannot duplicate.

Expansive, covered front porches with lodgepole railing, provide sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, river, mountains, and valley below. Two queen beds, fitted with cushy comforters and fluffy pillows, easily allow sleeping capacity for up to four people; very luxurious as a single or double. Ideal for young couples, families, or those seeking privacy with a romantic twist.

The Cookhouse

The Cookhouse is the centerpiece of daily activities and socialization. Games, the Cookhouse bar, horseshoes, campfires, meals, beverages, snacks, and starters are all available here all day. For adults, the open Cookhouse bar offers a cordial and friendly atmosphere after a day of play.

Program

You could arrive at the ranch at noon. During this vacation, your daily activities can vary depending on your preferences. The activities last anywhere from a half-day to a full day in which you can participate in various activities such as cattle driving. As the sun sets, you can relax and literally “look down” on the world below or engage in storytelling and conversation at the Cookhouse or bar.

Horse riding

If you looking for a more relaxing (laid-back) horseback riding experience, you can saddle up on one of the ranch’s more than 70 horses for scenic, guided trail riding. The two-hour (or longer) trail riding combines breathtaking views of nearby Lake Roosevelt and the Columbia River with a variety of terrain, including open meadows and forests.

Cattle driving

Cowboys and cowgirls alike may enjoy the opportunity to take part in authentic cattle driving. Lasting anywhere from a half-day to a full day, the drives typically occur between May and October when the cattle are driven to spring grass areas or upper pastures throughout the summer and early fall months before they are driven back to the ranch. Beginner to advanced riders are welcomed, although riders should have the ability to ride with complete confidence.

Trapshooting

After you have spent a day in the saddle, it is time to unwind. After dinner, it is time to socialize and enjoy the sunset. You can head up to the trap shooting range and fire off a few rounds and show your shooting prowess. The cowboys will bring up the gear and the clays, and all you need to do is have fun.

Saloon tours

A short 60-minute ride from the cookhouse at Bull Hill Guest Ranch, you will stumble upon a true gem in the woods. An authentic old west saloon complete with a boardwalk, a barkeep, and double swinging doors. Immerse yourself in the gunslinger culture as you sip a Jack and Coke or blow the head off a cool draft beer after a long day in the saddle.

Wash away the trail dust while visiting with friends or making new ones. Be sure to bring the little ones as just two doors down is a “moving pictures” theater done up in authentic Old West style (with a few modern features). There will be plenty for them to do as you enjoy a leisurely afternoon visiting with friends.

Location

Bull Hill Guest Ranch, located in northeastern Washington State, sits at the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains near British Columbia, Canada. Sweeping panoramic views of neighboring Idaho, Lake Roosevelt, and Canada provide a backdrop setting that is one of the most picturesque in the Pacific Northwest.

Bull Hill Guest Ranch is part of a large working cattle ranch that dates back to 1903. Rich in history and tradition, the ranch today has become a favored destination for families, corporate retreats, and the outdoor adventurer who is looking for authentic Western living amidst the tall pines and cedars. It is especially noted for its horseback riding.
