Accommodation

On the arrival of guests, they will enjoy a lovely stay in Caribou Wild Mountain Tours' authentic Yukon cabins, built to replicate the Klondike Gold Rush cabins, then on the day of the tour's departure and nights to come, accommodation will be in your own private tent or with your partner who will be accompanying you on this adventure.

Camping will be in tents and under tarps, and cooking over campfires. A stove will be available if needed.

Program

This trip is designed for individuals who are used to riding horses for a minimum five hours a day, have a love for nature, and know that it is not a paved horse trail into the Ogilvie Mountains. It is raw and has only been touched by a few people even to this day.

You will be experiencing the last frontier - land unspoiled and untouched, with fresh running streams and rivers, mountains of every shape and character, and wildlife including sheep, caribou, moose, grizzly bears, wolverine, wolf, and fox.

You must be able to walk up steep grades at times, endure wind, rain, and even snow. You must also be physically fit and have some horse experience so that you can ride your horse up to five hours in one day.

You will spend eight to 10 days of riding in the Ogilvies. The minimum will be eight days with two days off, or if you want to ride on the days off, you will be able to ride on one of the two days off.

You will stop for lunch within those five hours, so there’ll be time to rejuvenate and stretch. You will also be welcome to walk your horse when you need to stretch your legs while you are riding.

This trip, however, is not for everyone, you must enjoy and yearn for the true Yukon wilderness and have experience in riding, walking, camping, and enduring all kinds of weather in mountain terrain. You will break camp several times and travel on horseback with all of your gear and food to last for 10 days.

There will be camp days to rejuvenate in beautiful places wherein you can sleep in, read, drink tea / coffee, and hike up a nearby mountain.

Caribou Wild Mountain Tours' horses are experienced, calm, and well-versed to the terrain. Their equipment is up-to-date and professional. Their guides are experienced and love what they do! You will be in good ‘hooves.’
