You will be accommodated in cottages at Hotel Rural Abadía de Yuste. The venue has 15 rooms, all different, decorated with carefully restored period furniture .

The play of colors, the fabrics and tones of the mothers, the terracotta floors and a typical rural environment, are complemented by the modern services demanded by the clients.

All rooms are air-conditioned, with direct telephone line and free internet access with Wi-Fi , mini-bar, television, whirlpool or Jacuzzi, hairdryer and more.

The whole complex is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Located on a plot of 3000 square meters next to the old town, the Abadía de Yuste Hotel reproduces a typical verata square where all the elements of popular architecture come together.

It is complemented by two restaurants, cafeteria, garden with swimming pool, solarium and private parking.



Day 1: Navalmoral de la Mata - Cuacos de Yuste

First objective is to evaluate the level of knowledge of the riders in the equestrian center. Contact with riders, amazons, allocation of horses and equipment.

You will start a route through the pasture of Extremadura, between oak forests and extensive farms dedicated to livestock. You will stop and eat on the shore of the Tietar River, entering El Pinar del Moreno, located in the municipality of Talayuela, a natural area declared "Ecological and Biodiversity Corridor".

Later, you will start the ascent towards the Cuacos de Yuste town, in the Sierra de Gredos and Comarca de la Vera, enjoying the typical mountain landscape, riding along Roman road stretches and going through singular points such as stone bridges over gorges and old mills. Arrival to the stables and overnight in Cuacos de Yuste.

Day 2: Visit to the Monastery of Yuste

From Cuacos de Yuste, you will depart towards Jarandilla de la Vera, crossing paths and paths through which Emperor Charles V. You will enjoy the typical mountain vegetation, with extensive oak groves, chestnut groves and riparian forest with typical elms and black poplars. An authentic delight for the senses, highlighting the great contrast of landscapes throughout the route.

You will make an intermediate stop in the Monastery of Yuste, where the emperor had his residence from 1556 until his death in 1558. You will return to Cuacos de Yuste where we will spend the night.

Day 3: Return to Navalmoral del Mata

You will start the descent towards Navalmoral de la Mata. Cross again extensive areas of dehesas and scrubland, typical of the slope of the Sierra de Gredos, with extensive holm oaks and jarales, in a mainly livestock area. Arrival at the center and farewell.

Riding levels

Please note that this horse riding holiday is suitable for level three and above. Please see the explanation below:

  • Level 1 (beginner): rider who has limited experience and is unable to walk at a trot or gallop
  • Level 2 (low): rider who is able to climb and descend without help, controls the pace, moderate trot in length and short gallops
  • Level 3 (medium): rider who has a firm step and is confident and controls in all rhythms (including trot and gallop), but does not travel regularly
  • Level 4 (high): intermediate rider who is currently riding regularly and feels comfortable in the chair for at least 6 hours a day
  • Level 5 (expert): rider who meets the above requirements and who is capable of handling an energetic horse in the open


  • Previous meeting to see the technical characteristics of the route is compulsory
  • Mandatory use of a helmet (in the case of non-acceptance of the rule under any circumstance, the equestrian center places at the disposal of the client the document of the resignation of responsibility, by which it will be able to carry out the routes without the helmet under its responsibility) is compulsory
  • Riding equipment of the rider (helmet, pants, gloves, raincoat, etc.) is optional
  • The activities and schedules reflected in the program may suffer modifications due to weather conditions

The guides

Dehesas Extremeñas Centro Ecuestre have two sports technical guides in riding. The guides have extensive experience in equestrian routes. They also have experience in RAID (endurance) competitions nationwide at the highest level, dressage competitions, and jumping obstacles. They also speak English language and are university graduates.


Dehesas Extremeñas Centro Ecuestre, in the town of Navalmoral de la Mata, from which you will depart, is located in the heart of the Comara del Campos Arañuelo, strategically surrounded by natural, historic and cultural enclaves of great importance.

For three days, you will cross Dehesa area (open forest without scrub) and scrub in the plain of Campo Arañuelo, passing through Pinar del Moreno, located in the municipality of Talayuela, a natural area declared "Ecological Corridor and Biodiversity", in the direction of the towns of Jarandilla de la Vera and Jaraíz de la Vera, in Siera de Gredos and Comarca de la Vera.

In this area, you'll find the typical mountain landscape, with oak groves, chestnut groves and riverside forests on the banks of rivers and gorges such as the Tietar River and the Garganta de Cuartos. Here, you will stop at the Monastery of Yuste, the last resting place of the Emperor Charles V.
