Monfragüe preserves one of the most extensive and best-conserved spots of forest and Mediterranean scrub, which makes it considered as one of the last virgin ecosystems of the European continent.

This route represents the maximum expression of the ecosystem of the Dehesa, because you'll ride through those farms located in the perimeter zones of the park with a perfect land for the horse, soft soils, and open spaces. You will be surprised by the forests of ancient cork oaks, the quality of the pastures, the wild fauna (deer, wild boar, etc.), and the return in time that seems to take place. The time in which man was, more than ever, part of nature.

Day 1: Navalmoral de la Mata - Serrejón

After arrival, the first objective is to evaluate the level of knowledge of the riders in the equestrian center, contact with riders, amazons, allocation of horses and equipment. You will start a route to the town of Serrejón, among oak forests and extensive farms dedicated to livestock activity, rising slightly to reach the population. Stop and eat up to the population of Casatejada. Arrive in Serrejón for the accommodation of horses and riders.

Day 2: Radial Route through the Park

Impressive route for its scenic beauty. Travel on most of the stretches through large farms. the maximum and representative exponent of the ecosystem of the Dehesa. Impressive forests of millenary cork and oaks, finding the largest masses of alcoronocales of all Extremadura.

You will be able to observe the magnificent coexistence between the domestic species (cattle) and the wild species, being able to see wild animals like deer, jabaíes, foxes, vultures, etc. You will make a food stop in the field then return to Serrejón.

Day 3: Serrejón - Toril - Navalmoral del Mata

Start your way back through the town of Toril, a small town with a curious rural-urban organization, typical of the Extremaduran people that seem to not have changed since the fifteenth century. In the small urban area lives a dozen families in newly built houses, as the rest of the population sits on the farms of the medium and large areas that make up its broad municipal area. Arrive at Navalmora de la Mata for the farewell and end of the route.
