Program

Day 1: Arrival in Luxor

Check in at your guesthouse where the host will greet you with a warm welcome and make you feel at home. Meet the team from Desert Dreams and your travel partners. Relax until dinner time, then enjoy the pleasant and rich tasty food. Egyptian cuisine is a feast for the senses and will leave you craving for more.

Experience the exotic flavors, which are known for their aromatic spices and fresh ingredients. Traditional dishes include falafel, baba ghanoush, and tahina. Take your time to savor each bite and appreciate the special flavors of the region. There is no better way to experience the rich culture of Egypt than through its delicious food.

Day 2: Valley of the Kings and sunset horse ride

The first morning of your holiday will be filled with the promise of adventure and discovery. After a delicious breakfast, you will begin to prepare for your first visit to the Valley of the Kings. You are about to walk amongst the tombs of some powerful rulers of Egypt. It is one of the most significant archeological sites in the world.

It served as a royal burial ground for pharaohs and powerful nobles. Over 60 tombs had been discovered there, including the latest famous young Tutankhamun. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the tombs and their structures. After your morning tour, enjoy your lunch break, then get ready for the first riding adventure of the holiday.

Meet the horses and your guides, then have a short briefing and introduction to the horses. These horses are often medium-sized, between 14 to 15 hands high, and have a compact build, but this shouldn't make you think that they aren't strong.

Their ability to navigate the varied terrain enables them to thrive in the Egyptian landscape. Also, their graceful movements make them a joy to ride.

When participants are ready, they are going to head out to the desert, with the sky painted in the shades of dusk. The group will ride through the local villages and farms, getting a glimpse of their daily life, children playing on the street, and locals gathering together or working on their farms.

Dinner will be served at the guesthouse.

Day 3: Sunrise horse ride, Habu Temple, and arrival in Cairo

You'll have an early wake-up, but with no regrets! Saddle up and head out before dawn. As the first light peeks out over the desert, the landscape will come alive around you.

You will see colorful hot air balloons begin to rise gracefully in the sky. The balloons against the sky create a magical scene, and the sight is captivating - what a perfect start to the day (please note that the balloons will only fly if the weather condition allows it).

After the ride, have your breakfast and visit an impressive ancient Egyptian temple called Habu. Built during the 20th dynasty, this temple is dedicated to the pharaoh Ramesses III.

Later, you will take a short internal flight to Cairo (the flight is not included in the package). As the plane touches down in Cairo, you will notice that the air is alive with the sounds of bustling streets, the aroma of spices and street food, locals hanging around in colorful markets, and tourists taking in the sights.

After arriving at the accommodation, you will have a chance to relax and gaze at the Pyramids before dinner is served for the group at the rooftop.

Day 4: Pyramids horse ride and museum visit

Wake up to a lovely morning. The air is filled with history, and the atmosphere buzzes with excitement as people come from different places to witness these iconic sites. Have your breakfast with epic views, then it will be time to get closer to this remarkable ancient site. The horses will be waiting for you inside the complex.

As you mount your horse, which will be chosen for you by Desert Dreams' expert guide, it will be hard to miss the backdrop, which is unlike any other. The ride will take you along sandy trails, where these magnificent horses will lend you the wings to fly.

Galloping next to the Seventh Wonder is definitely a bucket list thing for every equestrian, and it's no wonder why. There will also be several photo opportunities during the trip to capture you and your horse with the grand structures.

After the morning tour, you will have your lunch break, then the next adventure will continue at the museum. Your local guide will accompany you on this trip, where you will see the colossal statue of Ramses II.

Dinner will be served at the guesthouse.

Day 5: Transfer to Siwa

The next destination is waiting, so it will be time to say goodbye to Cairo for the meantime. After breakfast, you will check out and start the journey to Siwa: an eight-hour drive in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus or car, with snacks and breaks along the way to ensure a pleasant journey.

Siwa is one of the hidden gems of Egypt, surrounded by lush palm trees, salt lakes, and desert. You can easily spend a week there and not get bored, with its breathtaking sunsets, authentic local food, diverse landscapes, cultural sites, hot springs, and many more.

Day 6: Hot springs and sunset horse ride

Try some local dishes in the morning, have your coffee and tea, then get ready for another wonderful day. After breakfast, the group will depart from the guesthouse and will visit the hot springs of Siwa, offering warm, mineral-rich waters that are believed to provide various health benefits, including skin rejuvenation and relaxation.

After your lunch break, saddle up for a sunset-riding adventure. The vast openness of the landscape will provide a sense of freedom. Soak in the beauty of your surroundings. This picturesque backdrop makes every moment feel like a scene from a movie.

Day 7: Full day desert ride

This day, you will discover the Great Sand Sea on horseback. Get ready for a five to six-hour exhilarating riding adventure. Explore stunning landscapes and witness the natural beauty of this enchanting place.

It is hard to describe the feeling of galloping across the open desert, but you will have the chance to experience this. Desert Dreams will just say it here: the "yalla" feeling. When your guide says this magic word, suddenly, the wind will rush past you and you and your horse will move swiftly across the endless stretches of sand.

The local horses are called Baladi horses, a unique breed that originated in Egypt. With their elegant movements and flowing manes, Baladi horses are a sight to behold. These horses are known for their courage, power, intelligence, and their kind nature as well as willingness to please.

There are so many great stories about how these horses were loyal to their owner. Horses were so important to the Bedouins that they kept the mares in their tents, which explains why they are connected with humans on a different level, making them the best companions for a long desert trail.

Day 8: Jeep safari tour

This day, you will drive through the stunning landscapes of the desert, providing an exciting way to explore the unique terrain and experience the natural beauty of the region. Witness vast expanses of golden sands and striking rock formations. Enjoy a traditional Bedouin meal, experiencing local hospitality and culture.

This adventure promises an exhilarating and memorable experience.

Day 9: Ride to the Salt Lakes

Get ready to ride to the Salt Lakes. These lakes are known for their high salinity, which will allow you to lay back and to float effortlessly. The scenery around the lakes is mesmerizing, with lush palm trees and greenery with the bright blue and white salt formations.

This will be more than just fun. The salt has therapeutic effects known for benefiting the skin and the body. It is also believed that it can help relieve various skin conditions and promote relaxation.

Day 10: Shali Fortress and transfer to Cairo

This day, before you depart to Cairo, you will visit the Shali Fortress, which is of historical significance. It dates back to the 12th century, and was built primarily from local mud brick mixed with salt and sand.

As you enter the fortress, you will find yourself amongst a labyrinth and narrow passageways. These passageways were built as a strategy against invaders and to protect the city. The ruins of Shali offers a beautiful glimpse into the past.

After the lunch, you will start your journey to Cairo. Your scenic drive will start with the mesmerizing Western Desert, then the road continues with seaside towns. This drive will also be a great chance to remember all the adventures that you have had and the memories that you have created over the last days.

Overnight stay will be in Cairo, Giza.

Day 11: Departure

Have your breakfast, then check out from the hotel. As you say goodbye to Egypt, remember the new friendships that you’ve made and the cultural experiences that have enriched your life. Take a moment to look back on your photographs and souvenirs, which will remind you of the incredible adventures that you’ve had.

Hopefully, Desert Dreams will see you for another adventure.
