For Borgo Cignano's guests, two different locations are offered, both restored and respecting the places, the eras and are furnished in typical Tuscan style.

Casa Maravilla

Casa Maravilla has a capacity for two to six guests with a total of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is a lovely villa with a pool, situated in a peaceful and panoramic position 500 meters from the equestrian center. The property is totally fenced-in and the swimming pool, just below the house ground, has an amazing view over the valley and the vineyards of the Chianti region. The villa consists of two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, and three bathrooms (one with a bath, one with a shower, and one with a toilet). At guests’ disposal are garden equipped with tables and deckchairs, private swimming pool, barbecue, free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD, and a kitchen corner.

Poder Bellosguardo

Poder Bellosguardo can accommodate two to eight guests and has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms. This accommodation has six beautiful and comfortable apartments in an old farmhouse and its barn, recently restored with care and taste, in the middle of a famous wine and olive oil producing farm, four and a half kilometers from the equestrian center. It particularly has a peaceful position between fine vineyards and olive groves, on a natural terrace overlooking the hills of the Chianti Classico and has a magnificent view with the city of Siena on the horizon. It has a large well-kept garden with a beautiful panoramic pool with an infinity edge and very comfortable rustic style furnishings with some authentic pieces.

Day 1 - Sunday

Meet the representative at the railway station of Siena and transfer to the Equestrian Tourism Center Borgo Cignano with a welcome cocktail and the allocation of the accommodation. Have dinner at Borgo Cignano where you will meet your equestrian guides who will introduce you to the trekking program.

Day 2 - Monday

Riders will meet at Borgo Cignano at 9:30 a.m., horse assignment and then departure to Monteriggioni. The itinerary leads towards the hills around Cignano and Quercegrossa, covered by vineyards of the Chianti Classico and secular olive trees. Beyond the Mulino di Quercegrossa, you will ride along the mining road to reach and pass the village of Lornano. Along with a stretch of unpaved road and continuously surrounded by vineyards and an oak and holm forest, you will reach the flat land at the foot of the Montemaggio, dominated by the Castle of Monteriggioni, built between 1214 and 1219. The Castle of Monteriggioni is, even today, the entrance to the territory of Siena and the area above it has been the boundary of war for centuries.

Day 3 - Tuesday

Riders will be transferred to the horse stop. Depart from Monteriggioni to San Rocco a Pilli, this part of the trip leads through the Montagnola Senese, which is one of the main hilly areas around Siena. Continue on the ancient Via Francigena, which is a part of a bundle of streets, also called via Romee, led from Western Europe, in particular, from France to Rome. Already in 876, many historical documents attest to the existence of the Via Francigena referring to stretches of road beaten by pilgrims.

Day 4 - Wednesday

Riders will be transferred to the horse stop. Depart to reach Mociano, the route leads through the Crete Senesi, southeast from Siena. The name Crete is derived from “creta”, which means clay, because of the soil that colors this beautiful landscape in grey and light blue tones. It is often described as a lunatic landscape. This clay contains sea sediments of the Pliocene, which covered the area about 2.5 to 4.5 million years ago. The landscape is characterized by bleak and soft rolling hills, single oak, and cypress trees, isolated farms on top of the hills, stretches of forests in the valleys, and large rainwater tanks. This area is well known for its white truffle and holds a village festival and a museum dedicated to the so-called “Diamant of the Crete”

Day 5 - Thursday

Today, the horses will have a day of rest while everyone will go together to Siena for a guided tour of the City of Palio. Surrounded by the Fortezza Medicea, the Piazza del Campo, the Torre del Mangia, the Cathedral, and the streets of the historical center, there is a lot to discover. In the afternoon, there will be a tasting of Chianti Classico wines with typical products at the Fattoria di Dievole.

Day 6 - Friday

Riders will be transferred to the horse stop. Depart from Mociano to turn back to the Equestrian Centre Borgo Cignano by horse. The itinerary of this last stage of the trip will lead you through the area of the Chianti Classico Senese. You will cross the Monaciano Estate, characterized by the main villa, dating back to the 13th century, and reach Borgo Scopeto, dating back to the Middle Age, with old buildings anciently used for rural craftsmanship. Along the route, which is characterized by vineyards and gardens that will accompany you until the end of your journey, one can see the City of Siena with its Torre del Mangia and the Cathedral.

Day 7 - Saturday

Sergio Aldieri

The equestrian center is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Tuscany, on the hills of the Chianti Senese, surrounded by vineyards of the famous Chianti Classico and by secular olive trees. In this ancient hamlet, which seems to date back to the 12th century, the Equestrian Tourism Centre Borgo Cignano offers its guests horseback trail rides and trekking in a place that preserves its charm and characteristics of a typical rural landscape.

It is close to famous tourist destinations as Siena, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti, and to three UNESCO world heritage sites: Siena, Val d’Orcia, and San Gimignano. In the past years, the renovation of this historical place has been completed, focusing on special types of building materials, respecting the typical style of this area.
