"The experience I had was amazing. Awesome horses and people."

The views are amazing. I loved the horses, especially Sirrus the horse I rode. The fact we got to take different routes and to document our stay with our gopros was also the perfect move. Was very sad to leave.

"Just incredible"

From arrival to departure I had just the most amazing time. Cathy was so welcoming, and Hayley was brilliant company out on our rides. The horses are to die for, and feel incredible special, especially the beautiful Paps! The rides themselves are indescribable, the views were second to none and the whole area was just so peaceful. I had the best time.

"Lovely place to learn about barefoot and bitless riding"

I loved spending time with the horses, and learning from their barefoot trimmer Clive. Many thanks to him for giving me so much brilliant information about horses hooves, and so much more. If you're interested in barefoot, you need to talk to him, he's an amazing guy! Also good to see a Dr Cook's bitless bridle in action and to talk with Cathy about bitless and bitted bridles and learn from her wisdom. And the scenery is amazing. Love Exmoor! And thank you to Jean and Clare who took the ride out on Sunday, lovely to spend time with them.

"Winter riding break"

I really liked the natural and cognitive horsemanship style used. Horses are not forced to work and they do it as they love it.

Great rides with canter/gallop tracks for advanced riders. Relaxing farm house, friendly and caring staff and lovely owls and hawks.

"A get away from it all break !"

Both my dog and I were made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout our stay at Westlynch Farm which is set in a peaceful location on National Trust land. My room was very comfortable with views to the hills beyond and as I was there for the riding and birds of prey experience, it was all on the premises. Breakfast was very good and a welcome start to the day..This is a beautiful part of Somerset which allows for great dog walking and exploring.and the coast is within a few minutes drive, The riding was fabulous with bomb proof horses and we were taken on some amazing rides. My birds of prey flying experience was given by Rod who had a wealth of knowledge.. All in all a lovely relaxing break and just what I needed! I will definitely be back.

"Beautiful Horse Riding in Exmoor"

I loved the horses and the philosophy Cathy uses to train them by letting them be horses in a natural environment and treating them with love and respect.

Great place with great people who help you find the pleasure of horse riding. The location on the edge of the moors is fabulous and they have a great range of horses to accommodate the needs of all. Love this place and would recommend it highly to anyone who want to learn the pleasure of riding a horse.

"Wonderful experience"

As a relatively new rider who had not had a hacking holiday before, I was delighted by what it felt like to have long rides in natural surroundings. The horses are absolutely beautiful, especially Sirrus who I rode. They are very well cared for and I learned a lot from the stable's philosophy. My confidence and my riding both improved a lot and I will definitely go back.

"Special place "

What a find! This place is wonderful, the views from horseback are amazing, the horses themselves are extremely well looked after, gentle and well behaved and everybody is warm, welcoming and generous of themselves. I will be going back...

"great riding"

Staff took much trouble to make the riding as good as it could be for our family's different needs and the instructor were excellent. The horses were very well kept and had lovely natures. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the whole place including the stables kept very nicely. The farm and the surrounding countryside was very lovely, but hilly and steep.

"Perfect girls holiday"

Travelled with my 11 year old - spent 2 nights and 3 days. Issie had freedom to come and go - she helped in all aspects of the yard, turning out, grooming, feeding, to collecting the eggs and feeding the guinea pigs! It was really relaxed and friendly. The riding (despite the grey weather) was fantastic. Lots of opportunity for long canters and a couple of gallops. We were lucky to get close to a young stag and a couple of does, and a small herd of Exmoor ponies. We rode Sirrus and Archie. Both lovely horses. We did the workshop on day 2 which was good learning, having never lunged before. The farmhouse was charming. Would definitely recommend.

"Amazing to be here !"

Everyone was kind friendly and professional. No fuss. Very relaxed and trusting. The hack was fantastic with the perfect balance of help, support and encouragement with lovely views and great conversation. We loved flying the birds of prey - lots and lots of facts about the birds and they seemed very happy and content to be handled by us which really points to the training and care that they receive.

This is a wonderful place to spend some time and Cathy, Rod and Hayley were the perfect hosts and clearly love all their animals.

We visited over the may bank holiday and our daughter had her first experience on a horse. We thought it would be a pony as she is only 5 but no it was a horse ..our daughter was thrilled. We had the fabulous Hayley with us who was so patient and good with our daughter. She explained everything and we felt very safe with her and Rosie .Our daughter loved it and in our eyes a bit of a natural so thank you Hayley for giving her an even more passion for horses and now the lessons will be coming. We just wish Hayley was her instructor. We cannot wait to return and our daughter Devin can’t wait to see Hayley, Rosie and the other horses again...thank you so much...very very happy family...highly recommend..xx

Exmoor Riding Facebook page

I came down last year and loved it so much I decided to return to celebrate my birthday with a wonderful ride through some beautiful landscapes of Exmoor again. Exmoor Riding doesn't just offer lovely hacks but also an unique approach to horses offering bitless and barefoot experience! Not often you come across a place where the horses are unshod - Exmoor Riding proves how sturdy, adaptable and wonderful horse hooves are and how the horses know how to move through different terrain. I also love the fact that most horses here can be and are ridden bitless :) You can clearly see the horses are happy doing their job and the staff takes great care of them. I am so impressed by the work that Cathy the owner is doing and so grateful for such a place to exist - I will be defenitely coming back again!
