"Awesome Riding Holiday"

This was the best riding holiday I’ve been on. Horses are wonderful, food is delicious and the accommodations are very nice. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating.

"Amazing. A fantastic time and could not have asked for more."

Cate and her team are exceptional in what they do. This was a wonderful holiday as they accommodated absolutely everything we asked. My daughter was the rider and she felt comfortable and at ease at all times. The horses are truly beautiful and clearly the love of their life.

Each day my daughter was taken out twice, with experienced, caring and generous people. Cate’s experience is very clear. Watching her guide my daughter in showjumping was a masterclass in how to be an instructor.

The whole team; Cosi, Macey, Adam, Helen, Millie, Derek and Amanda are amazing and welcome you into their home. The food is fabulous, beyond generous and the drinks are in ample supply. A truly warm and giving family.

The added bonus of Mozart, Shopein and all the other animals simply makes it better.

Amanda and Cate never failed with communication before and during the holiday.

This is a remarkable place. Honest, hard working and simply fabulous.

Cannot wait to return to Fish, the pool, the chocolate brownies, the running, the laughter, November rain, the walks and the entire holiday.

I have one very happy daughter.

Thank you French riding holidays x

"Awesome"

I loved the friendly environment and the amazing horses. The rides were fun, beautiful and adventurous. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the countryside of France, enjoy the good company with good foods and all the dogs, horses, cows and sheeps.😊

"Relaxing break!"

I really enjoyed spending time in the relaxing countryside, and being greeted every morning by Amanda and Derek’s gorgeous dogs, Mozart and Chopin!

Every evening I had a lovely meal specially prepared, and massive appreciation to Helen and Amanda for their cooking skills!

I loved going out on the rides, and with 26 horses to choose from, there is one that suits everybody! The instructors knew a lot about the horses, and I loved going out for most of the morning and afternoon!

The scenery is stunning too!

"Simply Wonderful"

The Horses - The Evans family have over twenty amazingly schooled horses, allowing them to rotate them according to condition, temperament, and rider ability. Having one of their horses beneath me gave me the confidence to enjoy the rides, develop new skills and really relax in the saddle.

The guides - The group size varied over the week from two to eight riders of varying abilities. Despite this, the guides were able to pair horses and riders and select routes that provided everyone with appropriate challenges. The owners, guides and staff also hung out with us after rides and participated in meals so there was always a chance discuss the rides and horses we had been on that day and seek advice.

The family - While many places invite you to feel at home and make yourself comfortable, not all achieve that true homely feel. The welcoming family atmosphere created by the Evans' made the entire stay feel like a trip to Grandma's house. The key indicator for this was how other guests behaved at meals - as we naturally became part of the family for the week and started helping to clear the table or refill water jugs, we frequently had to be jokingly reminded that we were guests.

The food - If I had one complaint, it was that I spent the entire week in a constant battle with myself to avoid the temptation to overeat. The food was simple but delicious, there was always more if you wanted it and always local cheeses and a selection of desserts to follow.

"As expected but better"

Happy, curious, and approachable horses and hosts! The horses are well cared for and fit, with good quality tack. Treks through rural France countryside, up along the tops of rolling hills with lovely vistas and winding treks down deep into wooded valleys. Stopped at a medieval village. Plenty of canters along country lanes and fields and even short races through post-harvest fields; enough that the time walking and the relaxing lunches are welcomed not just to rest the horses but the riders too, lol. Never the same trek twice, but you start to recognize fields and paths as you crisscross the region over the week.

The description of the holiday was accurate. They had you riding from first to last day. Some variation in activities occurs due to season and weather, as you'd expect. The food was delicious and the group was small and friendly. Great for solo travelers. I was the only newbie guest for most of the week; the rest were all (multi-time) repeat visitors. The hosts were very responsive to requests and super flexible dealing with post-Covid travel woes. It is a long trip to get from small town Canada to rural France, but worth it. Only real drawback for me was that the showers in the Gite were small.

"Absolutely Beautiful"

Cally, the Highland French Trotter Cross and the food. Cally is a delightful mare. She’s just beautiful. She has a good little clip to her too. My favorite rides were cantering through the woods with the curves and small hills, cantering the soft paths leaving little villages, and the afternoon at the cross country and obstacle courses. The later I could have done every day. The accommodation is as pictured, the food is great, and proprietors, Amanda and Derek, are attentive and really fun. I would highly recommend this vacation and would certainly go back. This is also a terrific vacation for solo travelers.

"Week of Joy !"

Both Derek & Amanda were so welcoming & personable. Nothing is too much trouble.

The horses are fantastic & Derek is hugely knowledgable.

The rides were different every day with lots of canters & gallops. The grooms were very experienced & catered for all abilities.

Amazing scenery.Special treat was the Trek & XC afternoon.

Amanda is a superb chef, every meal simply gorgeous with the wine & beer flowing.

Whole experience was really terrific.

"Laurel from Canada"

The entire experience for my week at French Riding Holidays was fantastic. From the moment that Amanda picked me up in Toulouse I knew I was going to like her and it just got better. The accommodations are charming and comfortable, everyone has their space and the showers are long and hot, just what you need after a long ride. The food is terrific, homemade and every bite was delicious. The riding is out of this world and having Derek take you on the trails is like attending a Master Class on horsemanship (it was for me in any case). Their helper, Katie was a pleasure to meet and she provided a lot of insight and stability as I rode like I have never before as my experience has just been in lessons in a riding ring. The confidence I gained from trusting their direction, trusting the fabulous horses and finally myself has been a fantastic conclusion to a wonderful trip. I can't wait to go back again.

The horses were great - lovely soft mouths; every ride was different and Kylee was great too (apologies if I got the name wrong). She deserves to see Hobbitville in NZ; great food and lodgings - overall a great place to meet people, ride fabulous horses and get to see part of France from a different perspective. Thanks Amanda for your perseverance cause at one stage I was having second thoughts about going through with my booking cause it sounded too difficult to get to!

"We’ll be back"

Everything. The horses, the people, the attitude, the countryside and of course the cooking.
