Whether you are riding through the forest or visiting the temples, seeing this beautiful country on horseback is not to be missed. Hana Stables is among the oldest horseback riding establishments in the country and have 15 horses available for daily horseback rides.

Hanna Stables offers private accommodations at their Belize Eco Lodge. Consisting of 10 unique, historical cottages, the eco lodge is located within the larger 400-acre organic working farm of San Lorenzo where they practice many sustainable farming techniques.

Your host, Santiago Juan, lives on the premises and will be available for any questions or concerns that may arise during your stay. The eco lodge is private and secure, and all cottages have their own private bathrooms. Each cabin as running electricity with running water, a lock and key to each door, and bedding configurations including twin beds, full-size beds, and bunk beds.

All towels, bed linens, and blankets are provided. The lodge has Wi-Fi Internet on the premises, although it is not the fastest and is intended mainly for short email conversations. They can provide a laptop computer with Internet access if you need it.

On-site vehicle parking is free and available if needed. If you do not have a vehicle, private taxis or the public bus can be arranged to take you into San Ignacio town (approximately five miles away).

Hana Stables is located just a few miles west of San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize. They are a 90-minute direct drive away from Belize City.

How to get there

Driving directions from San Ignacio

  • If you are coming from San Ignacio, drive about 10 miles down the Western Highway.
  • Continue on the highway, passing signs to Black Rock Lodge, Clarissa Falls, and Chaa Creek.
  • Right before you hit a downhill slope leading to the hand cranked ferry to Xunantunich, you should see a stone sign on your right-hand sign reading “Nabitunich.”
  • Follow the dirt road to the very end where you will see the stables on your left and the cottages straight ahead.

Driving directions from the Guatemala border

  • If you are coming form the Guatemala border, drive down the Western Highway until you pass the hand cranked ferry to Xunantunich.
  • After you climb up a hill, be on the lookout for a sign reading “Nabitunich” on your left hand sign.
  • Turn down the dirt road and follow it to the very end.

Arrival by bus

If you take the bus from Belize City to San Ignacio, the rate is about 10 USD per adult for the bus ticket. When you reach San Ignacio, it is recommended to take a taxi the rest of the way. Hop into any local taxi and ask the driver to take you to “Hanna Stables.” Any local should know where it is located.

Hana Stables are four miles outside of San Ignacio, located just a few minutes before the hand cranked ferry to Xunantunich, and about 10 minutes before you reach the Guatemala border.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 15% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
