Homoki Lodge is a unique lodge representing the time arch of one thousand years of the Magyar’s history, from the housing of the first settlement, the yurt, to the traditional rural farmhouse, all accommodations are equipped with modern time amenities and luxury.

The beyond luxury yurts, each one placed on a little hill, look like traditional nomadic tents, but once you enter you experience a very open and light-full interior on three levels. A double bed, floating in the center, right under a glass dome which makes one sleep under the starry sky is on the highest level.

The sitting area, the lowest level, merges with surrounding nature through big windows and doors opening to a terrace overlooking the endless steppe. An open bathroom on the mid-level makes one feel taking his bath in the middle of the meadows next to the grassing horses. All amenities needed are provided, under floor heating, air condition, coffee / tea maker, sat-television sets, mini bar, toiletries, etc.

Program

Whether you are a non-rider or novice rider, no matter whether experienced guides adapt the tour to your very personal riding ability. All equines are tested for riding safety by the Hungarian Horse Tourism Board and are eager to explore this untrodden rural idyll of open wide meadows, sandy tracks, and mystic forests with you. Feel the endless freedom of no fences or limits on the back of your horse. Immerse in the sounds, colors, and smells of nature far off the beaten tracks and experience the serenity of an exceptional spot in the Hungarian countryside.

Guest(s) arrive on Thursday and depart on Sunday, below is an example of what a stay could look like day to day.

Arrival day

If the transfer is part of the package, you shall be met by the driver at the Budapest Airport or at arranged meeting point. There might be a waiting time of maximum 30 minutes.

This one-and-a-half to two-hour trip leads through the Hungarian Southern Great Plain. Near the end of the journey, the transfer will leave tarmac roads and continue on sandy tracks to the secluded Nature Quest Resort of Homoki Lodge. After your successful online check-in, you will receive all information about the accommodation, the restaurant, and the booked activities. Meet the freely kept horses on the pastures and the animal husbandry with Mangalicza pigs, Racka sheep, and guard geese.

In the late afternoon, you might explore the resort and the nearby surrounding by Fat Tire Bike. Bike rental is not included in the package price.

Dinner is served between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m., pairing wine option is offered at the Homoki Asztal restaurant as well.

Day 2

Wake up and enjoy the freshly prepared Homoki Breakfast served to your wish in your accommodation, in the Breakfast room, or on the covered terrace.

At the set time meet your guide and get acquainted with your matching horse and follow safety instructions and guidelines for the horse riding activity. Horses are mounted via the mounting block for your comfort and safety. The 1 hour guided ride leaves to discover the openness of the country, the seemingly never-ending sandy tracks and meadows. Intermediate riders might book for another 2 hours to explore even more.

During the day you might relax at Homoki Pool, open from May 1 until September 30 and offers a sandy beach and infinity views across the Hungarian Puszta.

Lunch is served at the Homoki Asztal restaurant.

For nature explorers guided Jeep tours are offered to visit the buffalo reserve combined with excellent birding experience. Note Jeep tours is not included in the package price.

Dinner is served between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m., pairing wine option is offered at the Homoki Asztal restaurant as well.

Day 3

Enjoy again the freshly prepared Homoki Breakfast served in your accommodation, in the breakfast room, or on the covered terrace.

Before lunch you might book a lesson on reflex archery. Intuitive shooting from the ground is worth an attempt for everyone or one can enhance the experience. Trained instructors provide a cultural and also sporty pleasure. Lessons can be booked individually at the reception, but is not included in the package price.

Lunch is served at the Homoki Asztal restaurant.

This afternoon's ride will be passing through pine and acacia forests where you might spot some of the local wildlife. Thers is a good chance to spot fallow deer and red deer at the game reserve which allows close sight of these rarely-seen animals. Perhaps you will enjoy infinity views across the rolling plains.

For your body and soul you can book like Shiatsu session or DoTerra treatment in advance.

Dinner is served between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m., pairing wine option is offered at the Homoki Asztal restaurant as well.

Day 4

Breakfast, check out until 10 a.m. If booked in advance, return transfer to the airport or downtown Budapest.

Location

Homoki Lodge is nestled in the south of Budapest in the Hungarian Southern Great Plains, a low sandy basin between the Danube and Tisza Rivers. Small farmsteads litter the plains interspersed with forests, fruit orchards, shallow lakes, and meadows.

The flat land is crisscrossed by a myriad of sandy tracks and fields of maize, crops of peppers, and sunflowers suddenly followed by peach trees or an acacia forest. Highlights are the grasslands where the sky is touching the ground. A preserved home to wild game, birds, and rare plants.

  • Take the M5 motorway towards Szeged and leave it at exit 166 (Szeged-Nyugat).
  • From there, follow country road 55 towards Baja until the roundabout at kilometer-stone 25.
  • Leave the roundabout at the second exit”.
  • After 100 meters at the bus station take a right
  • From there, follow the signs of Homoki Lodge.
  • At this point, you will leave the urbanization and it is the beginning of your exceptional holiday at Homoki Lodge.
  • Enjoy this four-and-a-half kilometer through the Puszta landscape and watch out for wild game crossing the sandy track.
