This horse vacation is designed for advanced riders who would like to experience the beautiful, lush nature and unique hospitality of hilly central Serbia on horseback.
On the farm in Glogovac, you have time every day after riding to freshen up and relax before dinner. There is a common room in the guest house with a large dining table, benches, and chairs. There is also a modest library, some community games, a TV, and even a table tennis table. Writing and sewing materials and other useful utensils are available. If you want to make your own coffee or tea before dinner, you are welcome to do so in the fully equipped communal kitchen. Outside there are deckchairs, hammocks, tables, benches, and a beautiful, large green area.
Everyone can make themselves comfortable, do, leave, and enjoy when, where, and what they want. If you like, you can go for a walk or even jump on the trampoline (up to 150 kilograms) or balance on the slackline. They provide the riding guests with bicycles free of charge. So, if you are still bursting with energy after a day's riding and have the irrepressible urge to explore the village, the countryside, and the surrounding area by bike, you are welcome to do so. If you still have not sweated enough, or are simply a sauna fan like them, they will heat up the wood-heated sauna, which has three loungers and about eight to nine seats.
They are the happy owners of a massage table and have their own in-house masseur, but they have to book him in good time. If you would like to treat yourself to a massage, please let them know in good time. On the farm, they offer various farm and natural products for sale, sometimes also for tasting, schnapps, honey, jams, fresh milk and cheese, eggs, syrup, organic horse treats, soaps, essential oils, and much more, albeit quite differently depending on the season and circumstances.
A warm welcome awaits you on a large farm with its charming guest house, sauna, and other recreational facilities.
On the first day of riding, you set off after breakfast from your Glogovac farm in Kamenica through the village of Ljuljaci and Konjusa to Belo Polje, where you are welcomed and lavishly entertained by an extremely friendly host family who have been involved in farm tourism for many years. After an interesting cultural exchange, culinary delights, and an insight into their lovingly prepared farm, you ride back to your farm in Kamenica. You mainly ride along country lanes, sometimes through wooded areas or along the edges of forests. Later, you will be served dinner at the farm in Glogovac.
On the second day of riding, you explore the long village of Kamenica with its 300 inhabitants, which lies between 414 and over 700 meters above sea level. Situated at the foot of the Rudnik mountain, the farm is at the top of one of its foothills. The second, larger part of Kamenica lies virtually in the valley, the 3rd settlement on the second foothill, which lies at over 700 meters above sea level. Other farmsteads are scattered around.
You pass the excavations of old churches and enjoy several unforgettable views from the hilltops. If the whole group is interested, you will visit the Katanic wine cellar. You will also have the opportunity to taste and buy a good drop of wine. The wine will be brought to the farm. You can also buy the famous Pljakic schnapps.
On the third riding day, you ride from Kamenica to Vracevsnica to a well-known monastery with the same name, which was built before 1428 and about which there are interesting historical facts that you will tell you on this day. The monastery's own museum will be opened to you, where you will gain a deeper insight into the history of the monastery, and also into Serbian history with its hierarchs.
After a packed lunch and a tour of the monastery and museum, you ride back to Kamenica. On this day, you ride a good part over a wooded hill, but also over field and village paths and past farms. As always, dinner and all other recreational opportunities await you at home.
On the fourth day, you will ride from Kamenica up to Mount Rudnik (1132 meters above sea level) and enjoy a ride through the Serbian wilderness. There are unforgettable views and untouched landscapes. Many rolling hills and forests but also fields, meadows, and streams as far as the eye can see. There are practically no people living up here, which is why you take a packed lunch and have a cozy picnic in an idyllic spot with a table and seating area.
On your fifth and penultimate riding day, after breakfast at the farm in Glogovac, you head south. The destination for a good lunch will be a hunter's hut in the village of Ljuljaci at the top of the hills. You ride mainly across open countryside, through Serbian villages and past typical farms, another monastery, and an old, still intact Serbian village school. Not far from the hunter's lodge, another Serbian farm awaits you, where you will enjoy traditional Serbian dishes. After the tasting and a short break, you ride comfortably back to the farm, where dinner will be served in due course.
On the sixth riding day, you ride to Ramaca after breakfast. A sleepy little village at over 800 meters above sea level. Two wooded, pointed hills adorn the top of the village. Ramaca has a church that has been a listed building since 1955, which you will visit. A special feature of your neighboring village is the semi-precious stones, which the villagers use to make decorative items.
There you will have a sumptuous lunch with a very warm and creative host, who will show you his well-thought-out and decorative farm, where guests will also have the opportunity to purchase excellent schnapps, which they can pick up on the farm. On the way back, you can enjoy the lush, unique landscape one last time and look forward to the last meal together.
You will be served the farewell breakfast and, depending on the departure time, Horse Glogo Vacation will transfer you to the airport in Belgrade in good time.
On the six-day star ride, you will discover new sights every day around the foot of the Rudnik mountain (1132 asl). One riding day even takes you up the mountain. Another day leads to a rare place where semi-precious stones can be found. You can also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at the riding stables, where you will find a dignified and well-equipped guest house, which also has a sauna. They also provide you with hammocks, deckchairs, table tennis, and bicycles.
Currently, they have Lipizzan horses and horses mixed with Balkan and Balkan Mountain breeds. They also have a Don horse mixed with Balkan Mountain and Balkan breeds (Havannah 155 centimeters), as well as an Akhal-Teke mixed with Balkan breeds and Balkan Mountain horses (Thallasso 148 centimeters, and Freya 148 centimeters). Their gelding, Theo 154 centimeters, is also a mix of a Balkan horse and an unknown breed. They saved his life from the butcher, and he is a favorite for his gentleness and good nature.
Their mixed Lipizzan, Nani Bombastica is 156 centimeters tall and the fastest of all the horses. The Balkan breed is characteristic of this area and is known for its gentleness, excellent endurance, and hard hooves. They are small to medium-sized, strong-hearted animals, especially suitable for trail and endurance riding. Their sure-footedness on the rough ground helps riders cover greater distances with less effort.
The holiday will take place in Kamenica, Šumadija and Western Serbia, Serbia. First of all, some general information about the landscape and the district of Šumadija. Šumadija (Schumadia) is derived from forest (Šuma (Schuma) =forest). The area used to be and still is quite forested, which was allowed to grow wild during the Turkish occupation. Nevertheless, there are also very large areas with fields, bushes and a conspicuous number of acacia trees. Mainly spruce, beech, and oak forests. The landscape ranges from slightly hilly to rocky gorges and often offers magnificent views.
The landscape is very lush and makes a decidedly untouched impression. There are lakes, rivers, more and more little streams and brooks. On a riding day, the scenery changes from moderate to extremely dramatic. Kamenica, at the foot of Mount Rudnik, comes from Kamen = stone, and indeed there are many stones here, especially in the ground, but there are also several quarries.
The district of Schumadija Kamenica is a village belonging to the town of Kragujevac (25 kilometers from Kragujevac). According to the 2011 census, there were 329 inhabitants. The settlement was founded in the middle of the XVIII.
Century. In total, it has 641.96 ha of fields, orchards 132.69 ha, vineyards 8.17 ha, meadows 184.7 ha, pastures 157.48 ha, while the rest of the land occupies 437.52 ha. A small river of the same name flows through the village, which runs an old mill that was renovated in 2016. The quiet, easily accessible village lies at its lowest point at just over 400 meters above sea level and currently probably has barely 300 inhabitants. There are excavations of two very old churches in Kamenica. Duke Milutin Postupovic, father of Radic Postupovic, the revered donor of the nearby Vracevsnica monastery, came from Kamenica.
In the past, one of the best-known schnapps, “Zuta Osa”, was produced in Kamenica by Radisa Pljakic, a personality who was highly esteemed both locally and in wider circles. His best-known schnapps is now called Flores, produced in Divostin and sold worldwide. The people here live mainly from agriculture and animal husbandry and breeding. In the past, vineyards were cultivated here, even on the farm. At the moment there is still a well-known Katanic wine cellar here, which produces excellent wines.
You will be served daily meals included in the price.
