The horses are gentle, and the people at Ishestar take care in pairing you with a horse that has a temperament that the feel will suit your riding skill level including those that sate riding for the first time.

Actual riding time is between 1 1/2 and 2 hours depending upon how many are in your group and the pace of the group. Our ride was just under the 2 hour mark, but it was a little windy that day.

Make sure you dress warm if you come in the winter months. They do have coveralls and rain gear but I wished I had one more layer on under the rain gear yesterday and had a hat on under my riding helmet. I'm glad I had my gloves yesterday.

My teenage daughter and I went horse back riding. We are novices. The weather was brutal but we still had a great time! Cold weather gear was available. Bring gloves and a hat. Attentive staff. We left a coat at the stables and staff was kind enough to send it back later in the day with a driver. That was more than expected!

I had signed up for the Viking express tour and had a fantastic time. My guide was very engaging and friendly and my mare was very solid. She knew her job and was very good at it. Even with the freezing rain, I couldn't have asked for a better time!
