Experience horse riding with varied pace and scenery that will take you through changing landscapes, vegetation, and beautiful local village building traditions!
In this holiday, the accommodation and the customer attention in every aspect of the rides is all to an excellent standard. The accommodation along the way varies from charming rural inns in villages to delightful four-star hotels in El Barco de Ávila and in Salamanca town. All rooms have private bathrooms, except at the monastery on day six as you will stay in a very special place (a chapel) and then you might have to share a bathroom for one night. However, every one of the accommodations is very clean and comfortable. Except at the monastery, there is Wi-Fi in every place you stay and it is available for free. In addition, there are towels, shampoo, and liquid soap in each room and in some places, they have hair dryers.
On the first night of this holiday, you will overnight at a hotel in Navarredonda de Gredos. On the second and third night, you will stay at a four-star hotel in El Barco de Ávila. The fourth night will be spent at a charming rural inn Artesa which is an accommodation and an excellent restaurant where you can taste the most traditional Castilian cuisine. Meanwhile, on the fifth night, you will stay in Guijo de Avila at a rural complex in very comfortable cabins. The sixth night is special as you will stay at the monastery of Valdejimena. Lastly, on the seventh night, you will stay at a four-star hotel in the heart of Salamanca town.
Your accommodation has been carefully chosen by Jerebeque Trails. Due to the quality and also for the place for horses, they will rest in a field next to the hotel where you spend the nights. A support van follows the group during the whole week, meeting you in the morning for tapas-breaks, lunches, dinners at night, and also to move your luggage, so you have access to your luggage during the day at least three times or when is necessary. The service along the rides is outstanding.
The pace of the riding will be moderated with walks, trots, and canters. Usually, when the terrain allows for a safe canter, you will canter. However, in the mountains, there are many areas where the terrain does not allow for trotting or cantering, so you will enjoy walking with breathtaking views around instead. In this Gredos to Salamanca ride, the riding majority will be at a walk which will be very relaxing with a trot and canter on the first day, then at least one canter or more on every other day. This holiday will take eight days, seven nights, and six days of riding from Sunday to Sunday. The length of the ride is around 180 kilometers. Every ride is personally guided by the experienced Emilio.
This horse riding holiday is for intermediate to experienced riders which mean that you should be comfortable to walk, trot, and canter in a group as well as in open spaces and your seat should be independent of your hands. On the rides, you will be riding for between four to seven hours a day so it is important to be as riding fit as possible. Please note that the weight limit for the rides is 90 kilograms / 198 pounds. There is no an upper age limit as long as you are riding fit and healthy. Therefore, please keep in mind that you will have long hours on the saddle for four to seven hours a day. The minimum riding age is 10 years old but they must be competent riders accompanied by an adult.
You will ride on excellent PRE horses or Hispano-Arabs that are born at home, very much loved, very well-trained, beautifully looked after, good-natured, and very easy to ride. They are all well fed and in great riding shape. Moreover, Jerebeque Trails uses the finest quality English saddles and tack with silicon seat saver and small saddlebags in front of the saddles. All the tack is in excellent conditions, very comfortable for horses and riders. The horse tack quality is outstanding.

Note: This itinerary may vary due to weather or other circumstances.
The ride is suitable for non-riding companions. They can travel in the support car and join in meals, dinners, and others activities, or if they wish can rent a car in Madrid too. They can also move on their own and join the group for dinner.
Emilio was born in Sierra de Gredos, El Barco de Avila, the grandson of the most important Avilan cattleman in the region.
