The accommodation along the way varies from charming rural inns in villages to delightful four-star hotels in El Barco de Ávila and in Salamanca town. All rooms have private bathrooms, except at the monastery on day six as you will stay in a very special place (a chapel) and then you might have to share a bathroom for one night. However, every one of the accommodations is very clean and comfortable. Except at the monastery, there is Wi-Fi in every place you stay and it is available for free. In addition, there are towels, shampoo, and liquid soap in each room and in some places, they have hair dryers.
On the first night of this holiday, you will overnight at a hotel in Navarredonda de Gredos. On the second and third night, you will stay at a four-star hotel in El Barco de Ávila. Your accommodation has been carefully chosen by Jerebeque Trails. Due to the quality and also for the place for horses, they will rest in a field next to the hotel where you spend the nights. A support van follows the group during the whole week, meeting you in the morning for tapas-breaks, lunches, dinners at night, and also to move your luggage, so you have access to your luggage during the day at least three times or when is necessary. The service along the rides is outstanding.
The pace of the riding will be moderated with walks, trots, and canters. Usually, when the terrain allows for a safe canter, you will canter. However, in the mountains, there are many areas where the terrain does not allow for trotting or cantering, so you will enjoy walking with breathtaking views around instead. In this Gredos to Salamanca ride, the riding majority will be at a walk which will be very relaxing with a trot and canter on the first day, then at least one canter or more on every other day. This holiday will take eight days, seven nights, and six days of riding from Sunday to Sunday. The length of the ride is around 180 kilometers. Every ride is personally guided by the experienced Emilio.
This horse riding holiday is for intermediate to experienced riders which mean that you should be comfortable to walk, trot, and canter in a group as well as in open spaces and your seat should be independent of your hands. On the rides, you will be riding for between four to seven hours a day so it is important to be as riding fit as possible. Please note that the weight limit for the rides is 90 kilograms / 198 pounds. There is no an upper age limit as long as you are riding fit and healthy.
