You can stay in your own private room with all meals provided, and your evenings can be spent relaxing in the farmhouse, with free Wi-fi. You will stay in a private single, double, or twin cabin with all bedding provided. Evenings can be spent relaxing in the large sitting room with air conditioning, TV, and free Wi-Fi.
08:30 Breakfast eaten with the family in the homestead
09:30 Guests catch horses under Kowhai staff supervision / instruction
09:40 Guests groom, pick out hooves, and help with saddling and bridling their horse, sometimes stop for coffee, etc.
10:00 Morning lesson starts
11:00 Lesson finish - horses fed and unsaddled, etc.
13:00 Lunch eaten in the homestead
14:00 Horses saddled and bridled
14:30 Afternoon trek or lesson starts
15:30 Ride finishes - tack cleaning, grooming, etc.
19:00 Dinner in the homestead
Note: This schedule is to be used as a guide only and will change due to weather, rider's ability, and number of guests. Horseback riding is only available subject to fine weather and safe operating conditions. Kowhai reserve the right to cancel any horse riding on days when circumstances beyond their control would affect the safety of horses and riders. There is no reduction in the farm stay fee should this take place.
Liz started Kowhai in 1969.
Liz holds ESNZ GRADE II - Performance coach in Show Jumping, Dressage & Eventing.
She also holds NZPCA ‘A’ certificate and a Workplace First Aid Certificate.
In 2017 Liz was awarded a gold bar for long service to New Zealand Pony Club.
In 2019 Liz was awarded a QSM for services to equestrian sports and the community.

Becci holds NZPCA ‘A’ & ‘H’ certificate, was the 2017 NZPCA coach of the year and is our farrier, cook and instructor.
Becci also hold's a Workplace First Aid Certificate.
