Accommodation

During this tour, you will stay in hotels, guesthouses, and yurts. At the hotels and guesthouses, two or three people will share one room. Please note the living conditions in the yurts are very traditional, which means that a person will have the opportunity to share a toilet outside the yurt and experience a real Kyrgyz way of life. Single accommodation is not available so there will be three to five people per yurt.

Daily itinerary

August 4th: Manas International Airport (FRU) - Chong-Kemin National Park

Meeting at the airport. Departure to Chong Kemin. Chong-Kemin National Park is a uniquely beautiful natural zone with a length of 50 kilometers in the valley of the Chong Kemin River and serves as a treasure trove of rare species of flora and fauna. Glaciers here harmoniously coexist with forest zones and steppe areas, the landscapes are natural and untouched by time. The natural park covers an area of ​​500 hectares; the height of its location smoothly increases from 1,400 to 2,800 meters. After resting, a short hike to the panorama, where a magnificent view of the valley opened up. Overnight at the hotel.

August 5th: Horse riding in Chong-Kemin National Park

In the morning, you will start your horse riding tour and head towards the Chong Kemin Valley. The trail will take you through lush forests and picturesque meadows. Stop for a picnic lunch in a scenic spot, such as a meadow overlooking the valley. After, continue your horse riding tour towards the pass, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening back to the hotel, where you can relax and enjoy a traditional Kyrgyz dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

August 6th: Horse riding to Tuz-Ashuu pass - Song Kol Lake

Transfer to Jumgal Valley to the starting point of the horse ride. After lunch, you leave for Song Kol. Crossing the Tuz Ashu pass (3400 meters). There is a magnificent view of the lake. Song Kol Lake is a large alpine lake and truly a gift of nature. It is located at an altitude of 3016 meters above sea level, being so high, only in summer you can fully enjoy its blue, get acquainted with the life of modern nomads, live in Kyrgyz yurts, and taste the national dishes of the hospitable Kyrgyz people.

You learn about everyday life and Kyrgyz traditions, national games, and huge flocks of sheep, horses, and cows. You may meet camels and yaks. You will plunge into the habitual habitat of a nomadic people, which for decades has not lost its uniqueness. Overnight at the yurt camp.

August 7th: Horse riding to Batai Aral - Tailak Baatyr

Horse ride to Batai Aral. Batai Aral is a jailoo (pasture) located in northwest of Song Kol Lake, where nomads from the Kochkor region set up their yurts in summer. Batai Aral is a narrow dirt road between Song Kol Lake and a small lake. It is a floral oasis from which 66 species of water birds can be observed from May to September.

Ornithologists come here, in particular, to study the life of ducks, of which there are 14 species. On the northern shore of the lake is the only stone building in the entire valley - the Tailak Baatyr mausoleum, built at the end of the 19th century. This place is great for galloping horses. Overnight at the yurt camp.

August 8th: Horse riding to Tuz Ashu - Tulpar Tash

You continue on the horses around Song Kol and along the way you get close to the exciting and alluring culture of the nomads in the area. Tulpar Tash is located in the northwestern part of Song Kol, a jailoo of nomads from the Kyzart region. This is one of the most beautiful places in Song Kol. The glitter of the surface of the lake can be seen from afar. Overnight at the yurt camp.

August 9th: Song Kol - Ysyk Kol Lake

After breakfast, you will go to Ysyk Kol Lake. Ysyk Kol is the second largest lake after Titicaca in the Andes, a high mountain lake. It is widely believed that the name Ysyk Kol in Kyrgyz means 'hot lake,' because the water in the lake never freezes. Located at an altitude of 1609 meters, the lake covers an area of 6236 square kilometers and it can reach depths of 668 meters. After lunch, it is time to swim in the crystal clear lake. Overnight at the guesthouse.

August 10th: Skazka Canyon - Barskoon Gorge - Jeti-Oguz Gorge - Karakol

You will visit Fairy Tale Canyon. Among weird rock formations, there is a ridge that resembles two walls of fortification, which looks like the Great Wall of China, it rises vertically out of the surrounding sandstone. The rocks vary in color from sandy yellow to red and orange. There are colorful striations visible in places, which show the different chemical compositions of the rocks. The next stop will be in the Barskoon Gorge.

Barskoon Gorge is one of the most beautiful gorges on the southern shore of Ysyk-Kol, famous for its high waterfalls and dense spruce forests. The gorge is famous because it was visited by the first man who flew into space - Yuri Gagarin. On the way there, you will visit main local attractions such as Broken Heart and Seven Bulls and have a brief walk in Jeti-Oguz Canyon, which looks like a small version of the Grand Canyon. Overnight at the hotel.

August 11th: Horse riding to Altyn-Arashan Gorge

The next day you will move to Karakol and start horse riding to Altyn-Arashan Gorge (Golden Source). Altyn-Arashan is a high-mountain gorge in the eastern part of the Terskey-Ala-Too ridge. This gorge is one of the most popular tourist places in Kyrgyzstan due to its unique nature, hot springs located right in the gorge, extensive spruce forests, and stunning views. In the evening, it is possible to take a thermal water bath.

They are located at a record height of 2600 meters and have a healing effect due to the content of radon and hydrogen sulfide in water, maintaining high temperatures all year round: 35 degrees for a radon source and 41 degrees for hydrogen sulfide. Overnight at the guesthouse or yurt camp.

August 12th: Horse riding and hiking to Ala Kol Lake - Altyn Arashan

Further horse riding on the way to one of the most beautiful lakes in the central Tian-Shan: Ala Kol. The last part of the path is quite steep, so you have to dismount and walk it. But all efforts will pay off when you see a unique glacial lake and the famous five thousand meters: Karakol Peak (5281 meters), Oguz-Bashi (5168 meters), and Zhigit (5170 meters). After a short rest, back to the Altyn Arashan Gorge. Overnight at the guesthouse or yurt camp.

August 13th: Horse riding back to Karakol - Ysyk Kol Lake

In the morning, you will return along the gorge on horseback to Karakol. After lunch, it is time to swim in the crystal clear lake. Overnight at the guesthouse.

August 14th: Ysyk Kol Lake - Bishkek

Day of return to Bishkek. You head to the capital for a sightseeing tour: the central Ala-Too Square, Victory Square, Opera, and Ballet Theater, the largest mosque in Central Asia. Overnight at the hotel.

August 15th: Bishkek - Manas International Airport (FRU)

In the morning, transfer to the airport.

About the tour

The Kyrgyz from time immemorial were the nomadic steppe people. Staying at every place for a short time they changed their encampments, moving from one to another pastures driving numerous flocks and horse herds at that. You will trace interesting routes of the nomads during horseback riding tours in Kyrgyzstan, visit the most picturesque places, and also get in touch with their culture and life as part of the horse tours. You will experience living in Kyrgyz yurts (tents) and have local food and kymyz - horse milk.
