You will be accommodated at White Lady Lodge. White Lady is a large Dartmoor lodge sleeping eight guests in style and comfort. It is the perfect Devon destination for a short break, holiday, weekend away, or hen party.

Offering an alternative to self-catering, they provide a luxury ski chalet style service, removing the burden of preparing and cooking for a large group. They create and serve meals at the house, while you sit back and enjoy the company of friends and family.

Ideal for anniversaries, birthday celebrations, hen parties, reunions, or family parties, the lodge provides a hot tub, croquet lawn, games cupboard, and table tennis. There is plenty of space to relax and unwind. Lovingly renovated and refurbished, the lodge exudes style and character with oak beams, inglenook fireplaces, and exposed stonework, but retains a homely atmosphere.

Note: Liberty Trails reserve the right to offer alternatives if the above accommodation is unavailable.

Program

Whether you love leisurely hacks, taking to the saddle for a couple of hours each day, or a more challenging, adventurous ride covering up to 25 miles a day, you’ll ride at your own pace with an experienced guide, crossing verdant valleys and wide-open moorland to reach remote tors that offer spectacular views across Dartmoor.

If you’re an early riser, you may choose a dawn ride, heading out before sunrise and finishing with an al-fresco breakfast delivered by the ground crew, or maybe a more leisurely start to your day with a later ‘ride-out’ time, finishing with a perfect picnic in a remote beauty spot to enjoy a sun-downer.

You could choose to go it alone, leaving the non-riders in your family to enjoy the cottage, using this as a bit of time out from family time, inviting them to join you for lunch at a remote beauty spot, or you may choose to have a party and celebrate a special event and life itself, leaving the planning and organisation to Liberty Trails.

Liberty Trails' aim is to be as flexible and adaptive as possible, ensuring that they deliver for you a unique experience combining your wishes with their in-depth local knowledge.

During your stay, you will enjoy two full days in the saddle. A member of the Liberty Trails team will be ready to meet you outside the train station at Exeter St. Davids or Exeter Airport (EXT). The house is close to a National Trust property, a natural beauty spot well-worth an exploratory walk.

You'll spend two days in the saddle, covering a variety of terrain at pace on a hired horse or your own. Each day will involve an exciting route tailored to take in some breathtaking scenery and provide plenty of places to kick on and enjoy the open moorland. The route has been planned to get you into the heart of Dartmoor to quell your wanderlust

Throughout the day, a Land Rover-based support crew will carry your additional clothing so you can add or remove layers as necessary. They will also be taking photographs which will be sent to you after the ride. At the end of your day, you will be transferred back to the lodge to enjoy a soak in the hydrotherapy pool.

Included excursions

A private chef will create and serve a healthy menu designed to meet all your dietary requirements and based on the freshest local produce available.

Your guide will design a route for your two days in the saddle to match your stamina and competency levels and provide you with an interesting and varied route that gives you plenty of opportunity to experience the variety of landscape available in the 235,000 acre National Park.

Your groom will take care of your horses when you're not there ensuring they are well cared for, relaxed and happy in the stabling and paddocks available.

A support team with vehicle will be on hand to set up a picnic lunch at a remote beauty spot and to help you with anything you need whilst out on the moor.

Location

Dartmoor National Park is, quite simply, spectacular. The landscape here has changed little for thousands of years; exploring it on horseback is almost like stepping into the past. With its ancient woodlands, high granite tors, winding valleys, sparkling streams, and vast tracts of rolling moorland, at more than 368 square miles, it’s the largest and wildest area of open country in the south of England.

Wherever you look you’ll find evidence of how man has farmed and lived on Dartmoor for 12,000 years, leaving his indelible mark on a landscape that is as rich and diverse in its traditions and folklore as it is in its flora and fauna.

As you ride across Dartmoor, you’ll discover remnants of the ancient past scattered across the landscape: a solitary standing stone, a circle of granite boulders, or an ancient cross. It’s a land that’s full of myths and legends, a land that holds endless stories.

Dartmoor itself is ever-changing: no two days are the same, and the weather and light can transform dramatically through the course of a day. With sweeping vistas, huge blue skies, and unforgettable drama, Dartmoor is unlike anywhere else in the UK.

It has a character all of its own - sometimes bleak and windswept, other times sun-kissed and crisp. With spectacular sunrises, birdsong, heather-carpeted hills, and flower-strewn hedgerows, it’s a feast for all the senses, a perfect antidote to the stress of modern life.
