You will be staying in a private home / yurt at Barskoon village on the ninth nights. Then, you will be accommodated in the guesthouse at Karakol on the tenth nights. Furthermore, on the eleventh and the twelveth nights, you will be staying in a hotel at Bishkek.
Upon your arrival in Manas International Airport (FRU) at around 05:00 to 06:00, Lifetime Experience teams will meet you there and drive you to Bishkek city in 35 kilometers’ drive. There, you will be able to change your money (EUR / USD) into local currency (KGS) and stop for an early breakfast or tea / coffee. Then, they will drive you to Barskoon Village located on south shore of the lake Issyk Kul (Bishkek to Barskoon on 350 kilometers’ drive at around five to six hours with some stops). Lunch will be on the way in Boom Canyon cafes. Upon arrival in Barskoon Village, you will prepare and pack for the trek. Dinner and sleep will be in the guesthouse rooms.
After breakfast, the team will drive you a short distance up the Barskoon Canyon which will be past the remnants of an old caravanserai. It will take some time to prepare and balance the loads for the first time, then you will start to pick your way up through the forest along the Sasyk-Bulak Valley. The only companions will be lowing cattle, sheep, and horses. Unless otherwise stated, the daily riding distance will be approximately from 20 to 25 kilometers and taking five to six hours. The nights will be spent in tents.
On this morning, you will have your outdoor breakfast on the greensward. The climb will continue as you pick your way slowly up the valley into increasingly stony and barren surroundings. Furthermore, you may pass the odd lone rider.
The valley will appear to be blocked by an impenetrable wall but the track will manage to find a way up and over your first high pass, Tosor Pass (3900 meters). The wide Kerege-Tash Valley with a backdrop of snow-capped mountain in all around 4000 meters altitude will be a truly magical scenery!
Today's ride will be easy but long ride. As you will make your way gently downward along the wide Uch-Emchek Valley, you will see the occasional yurt. Then, you will pass separate herds of yak, horses, cows, sheep and goats. All the domesticated animals are here in an anything but domestic environment.
From the campsite at Jyluu-Suu hot spring, you will make your way along the bank of the swiftly flowing river to a crossing point, then turn left into another broad valley. This will take you eastward (that will be almost back upon yourself), as you will climb gently along the Burhan Valley following the meandering river with high peaks on each side. If ever there was a place to gallop, it will be here.
Today, you will continue along the same valley. You will be whistling marmots pop up from the rocks on every side to watch you and send the alarm call to their fellows. Every now and then, you will pass a lone yurt which is a home to a family for the summer. On this evening, you will camp by the Kalcha River.
You will head on toward the end of the valley which will continue to narrow and close around you. The snowy peaks seem to loom right overhead on both sides. This night will be your last night in this extraordinary mountain landscape. You will camp close to the lake of Jashyl-Kol (3850 meters).
A short final day's ride will be on the flat. You will be close to the road now. Eventually, you will emerge onto a well-graded road close to the 3754 meters’ high Barskoon Pass. In the afternoon, you will drive back to Barskoon. You will soak in a hot bath, enjoy supper, and night in a private home / yurt.
After breakfast, the team will drive you to Karakol in the east of the lake (around 130 kilometers’ drive). You will visit Jeti-Oguz Gorge on the way. Lunch will be in Karakol. After lunch, you will have a chance to enjoy visits to Karakol’s history museum, Moslem mosque, Russian Orthodox church, and Prjevalsky museum. Dinner and sleep will be in the guesthouse.
After early breakfast, you will start from Karakol and the team will drive you to Cholpon-At, a city located in the north shore of the lake Issyk-Kul.
