Living the true equine experience!
Julie has spent her entire life working with horses, breeding, breaking in, schooling. She has run a top polo yard and taught all sorts of people how to best look after their horses. She has subscribed to the local hunt for years, and is a highly experienced local guide; charming, friendly and knowledgeable, and familiar with treacherous Dartmoor and the safest ways to cross it.
Mary's real career path was as a top-flight PR in London. She married a famous polar explorer and on his departure turned the family home into a successful high end B&B. She has kept horses on Dartmoor since she moved there 25 years ago, and will look after every aspect of your stay, closing out the rest her B&B, to concentrate on spoiling just you, should you choose to come alone. Her reviews on TripAdvisor, Booking.com and Airbnb speak for themselves.

"An equestrian’s dream!"
Mary and Julie worked tirelessly both at Wydemeet and out on the Moors to make the experience one to remember for all the right reasons. Mary is clearly passionate about her horses - they had been on a trail ride with previous clients before I arrived so we’re given a few days rest. Mary had instead organised a beautiful, forward going hunter hireling (Buster) for me to have fun with for the entirety of the stay! He was everything I dreamed of and more - forward, loved what he did and had spirit and personality! This to me spoke volumes about the kind of experience both her and Julie want to offer -something that puts the horses first, that’s built more like a bespoke, quality ride between two friends, a far cry from the busier, commercial ventures that are out there. I had an initial riding trial on Diamond (one of Mary’s) on the evening of our arrival and can vouch for both her and Vegas (her lovable skewbald SH friend) being just beautiful and would make lovely adventure companions. I’ll definitely be back to try them out on the moors! Wydemeet itself is nestled right in the middle of the park but very easy to access by taxi, a gravel drive guides you to a lovingly decorated old fishing lodge that’s welcoming, cosy and just like a home from home. The food was second to none and the bed was so luxurious! Mary herself is delightful, passionate about what she does and so welcoming and warm. Cannot fault!

"Surprise Birthday Riding Holiday on Dartmoor "
Mary is a wonderful hostess with a beautiful home right in the centre of Dartmoor. The riding aspect was second to none. Her horses are fabulously well behaved and responsive, and in superb condition. As a guide, Mary listened to what I wanted to achieve from the experience, and delivered all that, and more. Our accommodation was spacious, beautifully presented and luxurious, and we could see the horses grazing from our windows. Our meals were very tasty and plentiful, served in style. Can wholeheartedly recommend this holiday, and hope to be able to repeat the experience soon.
