Itinerary
Day 1
Morning check-in at accommodation. Enjoy a delicious lunch on the roof terrace of the accommodation. You are given a tour of the stables, meet the guides and horses, and get matched with a horse that is suitable for you. The very first drive takes you through villages and fields to the desert, past the Habu Temple. Take in a breathtaking desert sunset from the top of a sand dune. Relax and enjoy a superb home-cooked dinner that is authentically Egyptian.
Day 2
Rise early for today's breathtaking three-hour sunrise ride. Watch the hot air balloons take off as you ride towards the desert and mountains. Breakfast is at a cafeteria near Habu Temple. After the early ride, unwind aboard a felucca sailboat and observe West Bank rural life and East Bank bustling Luxor City.
On the boat, a mouthwatering lunch is served. With your Egyptologist guide, you visit the temples on the East Bank of Luxor: Karnak and Luxor temple and take a city tour. After the city tour, you will have dinner at the restaurant El-Kababgy on the Nile where you can taste various small authentic Egyptian dishes in a shared dinner.
Day 3
Enjoy breakfast at the accommodation. Start the day off with a private tour of the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Habu Temple with a knowledgeable Egyptologist guide. Lunch at the accommodation. After lunch, it is time to get ready for a two-hour horseback ride through the sugar cane fields, farmland, and countryside. See how the farmers work the fields in the same way as their ancestors did in the time of the pharaohs. Prepare, cook, and eat a local Egyptian meal with the family in the Luxor Stables family home.
Day 4
Breakfast at the accommodation. A five-hour ride takes you from the stables through the peaceful banana and sugar cane fields, through the villages with old mud houses, and up to Mount Thebes. From here, the panoramic view of Luxor and the West Bank is truly breathtaking. You will pass secret valleys and caves that are far off the beaten path. You return through the small town of New Qurna, past the beautiful temple of Seti 1, and back through the fields to the stables. Lunch at a local restaurant. On the last evening in Luxor, the chef prepares an extra special dinner.
Day 5
Breakfast at the accommodation. In a comfortable minibus, you drive from Luxor to Hurghada in about four hours with a lunch box en route. In the afternoon, you will take a three-hour drive through the desert, ending with a swim with the horses in the Red Sea. Dinner at the hotel and evening at leisure.
Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel. The last ride of the holiday is a special six-hour horseback ride through the desert and mountains of Hurghada with lunch on the way. Dinner at the hotel and evening at leisure.
Day 7
Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
About the tour
Due to the heat from April to September, the riding times are adjusted in this period to early in the morning and late in the afternoon. This tour is suitable for any level of rider with normal fitness. If you are unsure or have physical limitations, inquire as to whether this trip would be appropriate for you.
