You will stay in Ger camp which is traditional dwelling dedicated to travelers. Mongolia Short Tours provides the best Ger camps in the destinations. Tourist Ger camp is traditional style accommodation with full service facilities, most commonly used in outside of the city. The Ger is a round structure of walls, poles and a peaked roof covered with canvas and felt, and tightened with ropes.

Tourist Ger camp consists of 20-30 Gers (Mongolian traditional dwelling), restaurant, and some entertainment facilities, western style toilet and hot water showers. Each Ger has two to four beds and furnished with a table, chairs and wood-stove. Most visitors prefer to stay in Ger, which provide an authentic taste of Mongolian culture and adventure, their most enjoyable experience in Mongolia.


Day 1: Full day horse riding in Terelj National Park

Pick up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m. Drive to Terelj National Park, one of the most visited national parks in Mongolia. You can see the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones; some of them look quite similar to turtles. At 11:00 a.m., you will explore the national park from horseback. Mongolia is the best destination for horse riding trip and especially the Terelj national park is the best-recommended place for this experience.

After giving preliminary instructions, orientation about horse riding, you will discover around nature from horseback. The horse-riding will end by 5:00 p.m. and you will be transferred to a tourist Ger camp for dinner and overnight. The Ger camp is located in the most spectacular spot in the national park.

Day 2: Terelj National Park trip - Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex

After breakfast, you will be visiting a local nomad family to experience nomadic life and enjoy tasting dairy products. Explore the national park and visit Turtle Rock formation, an interesting rock formation looking like a turtle and the symbol of the National Park. Continue to visit the Ariyabal meditation temple, which is surrounded by scenic mountains with massive rock formations and sits on top of the mountain. Lunch at the tourist Ger camp.

In the afternoon, take a short drive to visit Genghis Khan’s Statue Complex, the biggest (40 meters high) equestrian statue in the world. Explore the statue complex to have a good panoramic view from the top of the statue. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel at 6:00 p.m.

Turtle Rock

Turtle Rock, or called Melkhi Khad by the locals, is an interesting rock formation looking like a turtle. This giant rock formation is a popular spot for visitors to the area. There are you can ride a camel or travel on horseback around scenic nature.

The Ariyabal meditation temple

The Ariyabal meditation temple is situated in the scenic area of Terelj National Park, three kilometers from Turtle Rock. Buddhist Monks perform meditation and ritual for many years amongst beautiful and tranquil mountains. The temple is surrounded by scenic mountains with interesting rock formations and sits on top of the mountain.

The entrance of the gate is accessible by car, hiking or on horseback. The distance between the gate and the actual temple is about one kilometers and it is only accessible by walking. To get to the top, you would cross the suspension bridge and climb up on 108 stairs, according to Buddhist prayer beads. This small hike is seen as a ritual to cleanse one’s sins.

The temple, when observed from a distance, can be seen as a beautiful white elephant and the staircase looks as if the dangling elephant’s trunk. From the top, you can enjoy the breathtaking view overlooking the Terelj National Park.

Visiting nomadic family

You can enjoy visiting the nomad family to experience firsthand how people live in the countryside, a lifestyle which has not changed for centuries. There, you can help the herders with their daily tasks to get an idea of how nomadic people alongside of their livestock.

The Genghis Khan Statue Complex

The Genghis Khan Statue Complex is currently the biggest (40 meters high) equestrian statue in the world. It is connected to Ulaanbaatar by a paved road of 54 kilometers.There is a recreation area, restaurants, and souvenir shops occupy the base structure. From there, visitors use an elevator or walk to the head of the horse through the chest and back neck of the horse, where they can have farseeing and good panorama view over the complex area.

Terelj National Park is one of the most visited and interesting national parks of Mongolia. It is connected to Ulaanbaatar by a 70-kilometer paved road. Arrival by airplane

Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) is the largest airport in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. It is 25 miles (20 kilometers) from the city center. Transfer time from the city center to the airport is 30 to 45 minutes. Transfer from this airport is available on request an additional cost. Please send an inquiry for further details.
