During this tour, you will stay seven nights in tents, one night in a guest yurt with a nomadic family, two nights in a yurt camp, and two nights in a two-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Program

Daily itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia. Your English-speaking translator will pick you up at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) and take you to your hotel. Your guide is waiting for you at the hotel front desk and will have lunch (not included). You will visit Gandantegchinlin Monastery and the National Museum of Mongolian History. Dinner (not included) and overnight at a two-star hotel in a twin or triple room.

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Bayan Gobi Desert

Breakfast. Departure to the Bayan Gobi Desert with a 4x4 vehicle. Lunch on the road. Here, you will make your first hike to the Ovgon Khiid Monastery in the Bayan Gobi Desert. You set up your tent camp under the open sky in the Bayan Gobi desert. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 3: Bayan Gobi Desert - Tsenkher Hot Springs

Breakfast. You drive to Tsenkher Hot Springs. Picnic lunch on the road. You can enjoy baths and small pools in the hot springs. Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (single beds, four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Days 4, 5, 6, and 7: Hiking in the Khangai Mountains

Within these days of the trip, you will be hiking in an area of the Khangai Mountains which leads you to Orkhon Valley's world heritage site. You approach the peaks near the Orkhon Valley from the mountain area around the hot springs. You visit Tovkhon Monastery in the mountains which is famous for its location and history. From this point, you will go down the mountains with the larch forest to the famous Orkhon Valley as well as the Orkhon Falls. During these days of the trip, you hike approximately four to six hours mostly through the mountain area with decent hiking trails.

You set up your camp under the open sky. Dinner and stay overnight in tents. Your vehicle will be waiting for you at every camping spot with your tents and other equipment. You will visit the nomadic family on the last day of your hiking adventure. You can experience the real Mongolian nomadic family and their everyday life. Dinner and night in a yurt beside a nomadic family (four or five persons per yurt).

Days 8, 9, 10, and 11: Horse riding in the Orkhon Valley

One of the two amazing parts of the trip begins on your eighth day of the journey. You will be riding for four days through the Orkhon Valley where lies the pure peacefulness. Based on the group horsemanship, you will ride for four to five hours a day at a different pace. The picnic lunch and everything else will be brought by your support vehicles, not carried on horses so that you can ride more comfortably. You arrive at Kharkhorin on the fourth day. Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (single beds, four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 12: Kharkhorin - Ulaanbaatar

Breakfast. You visit the historical Erdene Zuu Monastery which is located in Kharkhorin. You leave for Ulaanbaatar early and arrive in the afternoon. Picnic lunch on the road. In the evening, you will attend Mongolian traditional shows which cover traditional dances, music, and songs. You do not include dinner to leave you a wide range of choices of Ulaanbaatar cuisine. Night at a two-star hotel in a twin or triple room.

Day 13: Ulaanbaatar

Transfer to the airport after breakfast.
