Adventurous Horseback Riding Tour Mongolia

Two days of an adventurous trip to Naiman Nuur Park with pack yak is exclusively offered only by this tour. Three nights with nomadic families is the best way to discover their daily life. During this tour, you will stay six nights in tents, four nights in a guest yurt with a nomadic family, and two nights in a two-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Single rooms are only available in Ulaanbaatar.

Program

Daily itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia. English-speaking guide will pick you up at Chinggis Khan Airport and take you to your hotel. Your guide is waiting for you at the hotel front desk and will have lunch (not included). You will visit Gandantegchinlin Monastery and the National Museum of Mongolian History. Dinner (not included) and overnight at a two-star hotel in a twin or triple room are available.

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Kharkhorin

Breakfast and drive to Kharkhorin, the old capital city of Mongolia. Picnic lunch on the road. You will spend from six to seven hours traveling by car. This is surely a long trip. By the evening, you will be at Orkhon Valley entrance, ready for your horse riding adventure for the next day. Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery. You will meet the equestrian guides and horses in the evening and set up your camp under the open sky near the Orkhon Valley. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Orkhon Valley horse riding trip

After breakfast, you will start the adventure in the Orkhon Valley. The picnic lunch and everything else will be brought by your support vehicles, not carried on horses so that you can ride more comfortably. You set up your camp. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Orkhon Valley horse riding trip reaches Tovkhon Monastery

After breakfast, you will head to Tovkhon Buddhist Monastery which has about 400 years of history. Picnic lunch. You reach the monastery with the horses situated at over 2600 meters above sea level. The views are magical where you can see the enormous valley with forest mountains in the background while riding down the mountains to the Orkhon Valley. You set up the camp in the wilderness after the ride. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Orkhon Valley horse riding trip

After breakfast, you ride deeper into the Khangai Mountains. Picnic lunch. You set up your camp in the wilderness. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 6: Orkhon Valley horse riding trip

Breakfast. Ancient lava flow marks colliding with the Orkhon River make the entire valley astonishingly beautiful. It says all about the volcanic leaks and eruptions that changed the valley eons ago. Picnic lunch. You roam through Orkhon Valley on horseback. After the ride, you set up your camp near the Naiman Nuur Park entrance. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 7: Horseback adventure in Naiman Nuur Park (with pack yaks)

Breakfast. The yak guides will join you. You load the equipment and the personal items on pack yaks. You arrive at the yak breeder family and stay there for two nights in separate yurts (four to five persons per yurt). Lunch with the family. You ride around the area near the lakes. Dinner with the family.

Day 8: Horseback ride in Naiman Nuur Park

Breakfast. This is the day you ride through beautiful forest mountains heading to the lakes of Naiman Nuur Park. Picnic lunch in the park. Dinner and stay overnight in the yurt.

Day 9: Leaving the Naiman Nuur Park to Orkhon Valley with packed yaks

Breakfast. Time to say goodbye to your welcoming host family. You head back to the Orkhon Valley leaving Naiman Nuur Park and traveling through a steep mountain road thanks to your tough horse and skilled yak guides. Picnic lunch. You move forward and set up your camp near the forest which is located in between the Naiman Nuur Park and Orkhon Valley. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 10: Orkhon Falls experience

Breakfast and you ride to the nomadic family in the Orkhon Valley. Picnic lunch on the road. You experience and enjoy Orkhon Falls. Dinner and stay overnight in the separate yurt of a nomadic family.

Day 11: Orkhon Valley - Night in a yurt at Khogno Khan Park (mini-Gobi)

Breakfast. You leave Orkhon Valley as well as the equestrian guides and the family. Thanks to skillful guides and welcoming family who have been their companions during their adventurous trips. You travel to Khogno Khan Park. Picnic lunch. Khogno Khan region consists of desert-like landscapes. Visit of the Ovgon Khiid Monastery. Dinner and stay overnight with a nomadic family (single beds, four to five persons per yurt).

Day 12: Khogno Khan Park - Ulaanbaatar

Breakfast and you leave for Ulaanbaatar early and arrive in the afternoon. Picnic lunch. You will be offered to go shopping with a guide for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, you will attend Mongolian traditional shows which cover traditional dances, music, and songs. They do not include dinner to leave you a wide range of choices of Ulaanbaatar cuisine. Night at a two-star hotel in a twin or triple room.

Day 13: Ulaanbaatar

Transfer to the airport is included.
