During the tour, you will stay one night in a guest yurt with a nomadic family, nine nights in a yurt camp, and two nights in a two-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

Program

Daily itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

Arrival in Mongolia. Your English-speaking translator will pick you up at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) and take you to your hotel. Your guide will be waiting for you at the hotel front desk and you will have lunch (not included). You will visit Gandantegchinlin Monastery and the National Museum of Mongolian History. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a two-star hotel (twin or triple room).

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Bayan Gobi

After breakfast, you will travel to Bayan Gobi (around five hours drive). Lunch will be on the road. The Bayan Gobi region consists of desert-like landscapes. You will get to know the Mongolian horse and ride around the area for one to two hours in the afternoon. You will visit the Ovgon Khiid Monastery. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 3: Ride through Bayan Gobi

After breakfast, you will travel on horseback through Bayan Gobi semi-desert steppes. You will ride on to the admirable landscapes. Riding through the sand dunes is exceptionally amazing and a completely different experience. Have a picnic lunch. You will arrive at the yurt camp in the desert. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 4: Khogno Khan - Orkhon Valley

After breakfast, you will drive through the Orkhon Valley and meet your equestrian guides and horses. You will drive forward (around five hours drive). You will have lunch. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a yurt near a nomadic family (four to five persons per yurt). The comfort is minimal compared to the yurt camps but you will experience the true nature of the nomadic daily life.

Day 5: Orkhon Valley horse riding trip

After breakfast, you will begin your journey in the Orkhon Valley. Ancient lava flow marks colliding with the Orkhon River make the entire valley astonishingly beautiful. It says all about the volcanic leaks and eruptions that changed the valley eons ago. Have a picnic lunch. You will ride to the forest near the Naiman Nuur mountains. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 6: Buurug Camp activity day

Breakfast then you spend a day on horseback near the Buurug Camp. The lunch is at the camp. Various types of fun activities and free time at the camp. Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 7: Visiting Orkhon Falls

Breakfast. You head to the Orkhon Falls on horseback. The picnic lunch near the falls. After that, you visit the Falls where you may refresh yourself in the river. You arrive in the afternoon at the yurt camp near Orkhon Falls. Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 8: Horse riding tour around Uurt Canyon

After breakfast, you will ride up higher to the mountain part where you can enjoy the view of Orkhon Valley. You will travel back to the yurt camp. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 9: Horse riding to the Hujirt region (located in the Orkhon Valley)

After breakfast, you will ride to the Hujirt region which is famous for its pure water, branded and widely sold everywhere in Mongolia. Have a picnic lunch. You will arrive at the eco yurt camp. This camp is unlike the regular camps. You cannot see any showers but will be offered a wet towel instead! You will love it for its unique and uncommon eco-services. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (two to three persons per yurt).

Day 10: Orkhon Valley - Kharkhorin

After breakfast, you will ride to Kharkhorin, the old capital city of Mongolia. The path to Kharkhorin is full of amazing views with slightly different landscapes covering wide rivers, dense grass, nomadic families, their yurts, and herds. It is time to say goodbye to your equestrian guides. Thanks to the skillful guides who have been your companions during your adventurous trips! Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 11: Kharkhorin - Khustai National Park

After breakfast, you will be the guest of Erdene Zuu Monastery. Have a picnic lunch on the road. Later, you will drive in the Khustai National Park with the 4x4 vehicle to find and observe the Takhi, the wild Przewalski’s horses (around 4 hours drive, depending on the condition of the roads). Dinner and overnight stay will be at the yurt camp (four to five persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 12: Khustai National Park - Ulan Bator

After breakfast, you will leave for Ulan Bator early. Have lunch. You will be offered to go shopping with a guide for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, you will attend Mongolian traditional shows that cover traditional dances, music, and songs. Dinner will not be included, so you can enjoy the wide range of Ulan Bator cuisine. Overnight will be at a two-star hotel (twin or triple room).

Day 13: Ulan Bator

You will be transferred to the airport after breakfast.
