Mongolia Horseback Riding Tour

This tour was specially made for families with children: a lot of fun activities and not long transfers which make the tour easy for families. Nomad Rider Mongolia worked hard on the tour and balanced the cultural visits covering the Bayan Gobi camel ride, Orkhon Valley horseback riding, observing the wild Przewalski’s horses, and cultural exchange with nomadic families.

Program

Daily itinerary

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar - Khustai National Park

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. Your English-speaking translator will pick you up at Chinggis Khan Airport. Straight transfer to Hustai National Park. Lunch at the Hustai yurt camp. You drive in the park with the 4×4 vehicle to find and observe the Takhi (the wild Przewalski’s horses). Stay overnight at the yurt camp (single beds, two to four persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 2: Khustai National Park - Kharkhorin

Breakfast and drive to Kharkhorin (picnic lunch en route). Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery. Dinner and stay overnight at the yurt camp (single beds, two to four persons per yurt, showers in a separate building).

Day 3: Orkhon Valley

You drive offroad tracks of the Orkhon Valley after breakfast. Picnic lunch en route. At the end of the day, you reach the nomadic family who will welcome you for four days. You will stay in separate yurts beside the family (four to five single beds per yurt). The comfort is minimal compared to the yurt camps but you will experience the true nature of the nomadic daily life.

Days 4, 5, and 6: Living the nomad life

Living for the entire three days among the nomadic family is the best part of this tour. Riding horses and being a part of a family has always been an amazing experience for every child of the visiting family. There is no strict plan for this part of the tour. Nomad Rider Mongolia leaves the program flexible to let you freely experience nomadic daily life. Your translator and the host family will explain the tradition as you enjoy your nomadic life. This will be the best cultural exchange experience for both of you and the family. Do not worry if you are traveling with advanced or beginner riders.

You can always arrange the schedule of a horse ride for the different levels of riders. Relax and enjoy your tour in every possible way. You can help with the herd, or prepare lunch and dinner with the family. Being a part of the family is the best you can get from this tour. It is completely your choice whether you want to ride a horse or travel by car to Orkhon Falls. You will enjoy Mongolian traditional barbeque (offered only for honored guests traditionally) prepared by your host family on the last evening. Stay overnight at the yurt.

Day 7: Orkhon Valley - Bayan Gobi

You will depart from your nomad family after lunch and here is the most difficult part of the trip because you cannot imagine how close you become with the family even though it is just three days. Travel to Khogno Khan Park. You will reach “Mini Gobi” sand dunes and have fun riding a camel, as well as visit the Ovgon Khiid Monastery. Dinner and stay overnight in the separate yurt of another nomadic family.

Day 8: Bayan Gobi - Ulaanbaatar

Departure to Ulaanbaatar after breakfast. Picnic lunch en route. You will be offered to go shopping with a guide for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, you will attend Mongolian traditional shows which cover traditional dances, music, songs, and Khoomii. They do not include dinner to leave you a wide range of choices of Ulaanbaatar cuisine. Night at a two-star hotel in a twin or triple room.

Day 9: Ulaanbaatar

Transfer to the airport after breakfast.

About the tour

The family tour exclusively offers a visit to the nomadic family to experience their traditional daily life. You will realize bringing your children to the nomadic life turns out to be the best decision you have ever made. Experiencing the adventure full of emotion and excitement will probably leave your family speechless. Nomad Rider Mongolia has tested and improved your tour again and again until it becomes comfortable with children.

In order to do so, the tour has been tested with their own children. They have studied and focused on the special needs of your children in order to keep them comfy and fun throughout the trip. Visits, horse or camel rides, stays with nomads as well as transfers are carefully planned for children.
