Arrive at Oudebosch Guest Farm around 12 noon. Check into comfortable and luxury farm-style accommodation and enjoy a light lunch followed by an introduction to the horses, hosts, and the facilities. You can enjoy a late afternoon introductory ride before dinner. Dinner will be a relaxed “farm-style braai” at the main fireplace, where everyone can get to know each other.
Prepare the horses for the "farm ride" starting at 7:30 a.m. and the ride will start as soon as all are ready. It’s relaxed riding through local farmland, going on cattle tracks, and past old homesteads. There is some wildlife on the farm, zebra and antelopes like Eland, Springbok, Duiker, and Grysbok; wild troops of baboons can also be seen.
After a three-hour ride, lunch will be served en-route during a nice long rest, this will give you and the horses time to rejuvenate for the next leg of the ride. This will take you along a different route back to the Oudebosch Homestead, finishing at 5 p.m. The famous “Oudebosch Pizza” straight from the farm's own pizza oven, will be served for dinner.
Today will be the real exploration of the Sleeping Beauty Mountain range and the vast pine forest at its foothills. Lunch will be served at a waterfall mid-route on a neighboring farm called “Windhoek”, close to the Garcia Mountain pass. Following a different route back, end your day at Oudebosch Guest Farm. Enjoy a homemade “farm kitchen dinner” at the Oudebosch Barn.
Throughout South African farmland, there are very important water storage dams. During this ride, you will visit the local one called Korrentepoort Dam. The aim is to follow various routes to have the best views of the dam, have a nice lunch, and swim with the horses at the historic old-school building that was recently renovated for accommodation and picnic purposes.
The ride ends back at Oudebosch Homestead and dinner will be fresh fish on the grill.
Scout the trail to two old Oak tree forests dating back to the 1700/1800s. Legend has it that the first of these trees were originally planted by the stagecoach drivers that scouted and developed these transport routes from Historic Cape Town through these areas. The aim back then was to create these forests as sheltered areas where travelers could stay overnight.
Lunch will be served in the deep shade of these old giants. The ride ends back at Oudebosch Homestead and the last dinner will be a grand traditional South African braai, laden with various traditional favorite dishes.
Enjoy breakfast for the last time of your stay, overlooking the beautiful rock swimming pool with the Langeberg Mountains in the background.
