Mountain Horse Riding in Spain

Just 2 hours away from London, Paris, or Berlin and just one hour since pick up from Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD), adventure awaits you in amazing horseback trails inside one of the most amazing environments nearby Madrid, the capital of Spain. The riding trails offered and organized by the Riding Madrid team across the national park are led by an expert team of guides. The photography packs are imparted by Ignacio Alvar-Thomas, a worldwide recognized equine photographer. You will trail in unspoiled forests, mountains, and valleys, to enjoy a time of adventure and exploration. Also, you will get the chance to experience practical lessons of equine photography with a herd of stunning horses. The horses have an excellent character and have been trained and adapted to Guadarrama's natural way. They are resistant and safe in the woods and stony paths of the Madrid mountains.

Day 3: Cercedilla - San Rafael

Starting after breakfast at 10:00 a.m., it is the longest day ride and the most beautiful views of the Guadarrama Mountains. You will ride up the valley to the mountain tops riding through an amazing forest, and cross the mountain top descending to the north side on or way back to the stables, running along the Moros river to San Rafael, back to the stables. Picnic bag for lunch. End of the ride! Transfer back to the airport if needed. Visit and dinner at Avila, a 12th-century medieval walled city.

  • Riding time: 6.5 hours

Day 4

Transfer back to the airport or Madrid center. Farewell and goodbye. Adios amigos!

Pace

Riding terrain of forests, mountains, rocky tracks plenty of long canters on wide paths, at least 3-4 long ones daily, as well of a more technical mountain climb and narrow paths along the forest. Amazing views from the mountain tops.

Location

Riding Madrid's stables location in the National Park Sierra del Guadarrama offers an incredible choice of trails on rugged landscapes of breathtaking beauty and forests still unspoiled. Inside the park, deer, boars, eagles, vultures, and even wolfs still inhabit there. One of the best ways to discover and admire them is on horseback.

You will make your trails across the pine forests, rocky mountains, and valleys - all part of the National Park of Guadarrama. In 2001, the forest was nominated as one of the best conservation areas in the whole of Europe.
