Roop Niwas Kothi is one of the oldest boutique hotels offering an authentic experience of horse rides and adventure in the semi-arid region of Rajasthan. Group horseback safaris, organized ahead of time, are personally conducted by the owner, Rawal Devendra Singh. When he is in residence, guests can savor tea with him at the hotel’s stables or just watch the exciting running of horses at dawn and dusk.
Roop Niwas offers elegant and old world charm reminiscent of an English colonial estate, set in the midst of the exotic culture, history, and heritage of the Shekhawati Area of Rajasthan, India. The heritage hotel features 18 Super Deluxe rooms, one Royal Suite, and two Luxury Suites.
The suites, varying in size and style, are ideal for guests who prefer more spacious and private accommodations. They are located in the main building of the hotel. All rooms are bright, with views of greenery, and often privy to bird songs.
Arrive by international flight at Jaipur or Delhi in the morning, then drive six hours from Delhi or three and a half hours from Jaipur by private coach / car to Nawalgarh, at your own expense.
You will receive a royal welcome on arrival at the Roop Niwas Kothi. The palace lies just a kilometer from the town and is a fascinating blend of European and Rajput architectural styles. It has lovely, spacious lawns, a billiard room, and a swimming pool.
Today, you will go on a morning ride with picnic breakfast in the countryside, returning in time for lunch. You will then enjoy afternoon free time at the palace. An optional activity is offered - Roop Niwas Kothi invite ladies to decorate the palms of lady guests with henna.
Then, you can go for a sightseeing tour of Nawalgarh by car, with a guide, visiting havelis to see the frescoes and painted houses and visit the stables later in the evening.

You will have a morning ride through the semi-desert region and Fatehpur Beed. Have a picnic lunch near a typical Shekhawati architecture water tank "Johda". Three hundred years ago, the Nawab of Fatehpur has encircled an area riding on a horse from sunrise to sunset and declared it protected.
Today, Fatehpur Beed is an amazing 70 square kilometers area with all species of desert plants. Camping in Beed, one gets to see the desert fox, jackal, blue bull, and deer. The protected area proves that if humans don’t interfere, a semi forest can be born in the desert.
Riding north today, you will go further into the Shekhawati Region. The sand dunes are dotted with greenery where farmers have found water from deep tube wells. Ramgarh is a town with many painted havelis, an interesting traditional market place.
You will pass through very high sand dunes and desert villages to reach the beautiful small village of Mehansar, in Shekhawati Region. The hotel is a charming family-run place with basic comforts but very tasty home-cooked food.
Ride out with picnic breakfast. Then, you can have a late afternoon sightseeing tour of Mehansar, visiting the Gopinath Temple and the famous Sone Chandi Ki Haveli.
You will go on an early morning ride, if time permits it, and then say goodbye to the horses. After breakfast, drive to Delhi or Jaipur at your own expense.
Note: Non-rider spouses or friends can join the same tour, doing the journey in a 4x4 Jeep, crisscrossing riders' paths. They would join the picnic lunch, siesta, and the luxury camp.
