Horse Riding
Meet the wonderful horses of Costa Rica. The ranch is nestled between a beautiful river and a mango plantation. The horses drink and bathe in the river while enjoying life in herds on the lush grounds.
Each 2 hours horseback ride will take you a different route. You will ride on different beaches, discover the trails of the Costa Rican Jungle and explore the river of Rio Montaña. Wildlife, birds, butterflies take part in the scenic routes. This retreat is suitable for all levels, beginners can enjoy walking on the trails while more advanced riders can enjoy trotting and galloping. When you’re not riding, you will have yoga sessions and enjoy trips to the beaches of Nosara and Ostional.

Yoga classes
During the morning sessions, you will discover the mysteries of Tantra and Kundalini yoga. An ancient practice that combines powerful and life-changing breathwork, movements, and mantras.
Tra means “tool” and Tan means “body”. Tantra is a tool for the body while Mantra means the tool for the mind. Kundalini yoga will help you tune in for the day and purify your body to another level. Each day, you will explore the power of different energy centers also known as the chakras.
You will also have sessions to explore different yoga styles, Yin yoga and Hatha yoga and practice yoga in an ocean view shala as traditionally taught in India. And you will dive deep into the science of breathwork with 2 elemental rhythm breathwork sessions and a relaxing flow breathwork towards the end of the program.
The sessions are designed to connect with the innermost spirit of yoga leaving you room for progress and discoveries whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced practitioner.

What is Kundalini yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is an ancient practice that aims to purify and activate the life force energy in the body known as Prana. Kundalini yoga combines Tantra, Mantra and Prana. Tra means “tool” and Tan means “body”, Tantra is a tool for the body while Mantra means tool for the mind. Kundalini Yoga will help you tune in for the day and purify your body. Moreover, you will gain awareness of the energy centers in your body that you may have heard of as the chakras.
What is elemental rhythm breathwork?
Inspired by the elements of nature; earth, water, air and fire and supported by musical rhythms, you will experience the full potential of your breath. Release stuck emotions and pains. Isabelle loves sharing the spirit of yoga and teaching about the chakras. Following the teachings of her Himalayan guru Naveen Ji who trained her in an ancient practice Kundalini yoga that combines powerful breathwork, tantra, and mantras, she is now sharing it with the world.
Location
Shambala Retreats is located on a mountain, a two-minute walk from Playa Ostional, a beach dedicated to the protection of Sea Turtles and famous for its monthly turtle arrivals. It is a vibrant beach with a wide variety of birds and wildlife where you can swim, meditate, walk, and even surf if you like. Ostional is an authentic Costa Rican village, seven kilometers from the renowned beach-town Nosara. There is a mini-market, a restaurant, and a bar, five minutes walk from the center.

Driving directions from Nosara
- Turn left at the Rindo Mas supermarket on the dirt road.
- Pass the Rasta Bridge of Rio Nosara.
- Turn right after the bridge and follow the road.
- At the end of the road, turn left and continue to follow the road for 4 kilometers.
- Find Ostional Turtle Lodge.
- From there, in front of the lodge, there is a road that goes up to where you will see a very small construction with a sombrero-like roof.
- Go up that road and you have arrived.
Arrival by bus
There are daily buses from Terminal 7 to 9 San Jose from San Jose to Nosara. It costs approximately 10 USD per ticket. If you plan on taking the bus, please tell Shambala Retreats so they can coordinate your arrival.
