The Painted Pony Guest Ranch at Finca Casagua is recognized as one the best guest ranches in the world, famous for their Spanish horses and hospitality.
Santiago is a graduate of the Central American School of Ganadaria as a Zotecnista. He is the farm vet and ranch manager. He studied English at Universidad Latina. He is trained in Natural Horsemanship for 23 years and most recently in Spain to be trained in Centered Riding. He imprints the foals and trains both the horses born on the ranch and those brought in for tours and breeding. He leads most of the trail rides and gives lessons to adults and children in Spanish and English. Lessons are offered in Spanish dressage, Centered Riding, Natural Horsemanship, and Pleasure Riding.
Kay has a Ph.D. in Ecology and University Administration and is a teacher and professor for 23 years. President of the Center for Environmental Studies in Michigan and Costa Rica, she facilitated the donation of millions of US dollars to Costa Rican conservation and education. A lifetime rider, she moved to Costa Rica and with her husband Esteban founded Casagua Horses Tours and the Painted Pony Guest Ranch offering high-quality equestrian experiences. They are now involved in breeding programs for Paint Pasos and Ibero-American horses at the ranch.
