Day 1: Wicklow Forest Trek (2 hours)

The holiday kicks off at 10 a.m. (or later in the evening depending on your preference) from Wicklow Equi Tours' farm, Ballinabarney Stud, in Glenealy, Co. Wicklow. First, you will have an orientation then you will be introduced to your mounts. The horses/cobs, although all are different in shapes and sizes, have each been handpicked by Wicklow Equi Tours to ensure that they are comfortable, trustworthy, and suited to the trekking terrain in Co. Wicklow.

Each horse/cob is carefully paired to their rider to ensure satisfaction. You will then begin the tour with an introductory trek to acquaint riders and horses around the farm boundary and neighboring forest. Once everyone is happily mounted and riding comfortably as a group, you will continue on with the 2-hour scenic Wicklow forest journey. This is a magical journey along forest trails with breathtaking views that serves as a taster for the week’s activities.

Day 2: Carrick Mountain (4 hours)

After a full breakfast, today’s ride will take you to the stunning Carrick Mountain next to the farm. Starting at 10 a.m., you will trek across to the picturesque village of Glenealy to begin the ascent up Carrick Mountain. The winding forest trail takes you through beautiful beech trees and easy terrain, perfect for a canter if you like.

You will ride to the summit, 381 meters above sea level, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Glenealy hinterland, Wicklow town, and the East Coastline.

Lunch is eaten on the trail and will be provided by Wicklow Equi Tours. You will have a total of four hours in the saddle with undulating scenic terrain and a welcome return to the farm will serve to whet your appetite for what is to come! Overnight will be spent at your hotel and you can choose to eat dinner at the hotel or at one of the many restaurants available locally.

Day 3: Oldbawn Beach

After a full breakfast, your third day of riding takes you along the 15-kilometer sandy coastlines of Oldbawn Beach and neighboring beaches located in County Wexford. The journey will begin at 10 a.m. when you and the horses will be transported to your destination (approximately 35 minutes away), which includes a stunning gallop track and Dunes National Heritage Area. This beach is one-of-a-kind with stunning views and terrains in every direction.

After the 2.5-hour adrenaline trek, lunch will be eaten at a local pub in a nearby village. After lunch, you will head back to the facility. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 4 - Journey to Laragh

After a full breakfast, today’s trek will truly be a spectacular one. Starting at 10 a.m., transport yourself and the horses to a starting point at the Lynham of Laragh pub and embark on a journey exploring the beauty of Laragh. Set firmly in the heart of the Garden of Ireland, Laragh offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland.

This is an incredible journey through the beautiful Wicklow Mountains, showcasing the best of the local countryside, gentle woodland, rolling hills, and spectacular views. Upon arriving in Laragh, you will have a hearty meal at the Lynham of Laragh Hotel. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 5: Brittas Bay beach ride (1 hour)

Your last day of riding departs from the facility at 9 a.m. for your one-hour Brittas Bay Beach trek. One of the finest beaches in the east of Ireland, it has won numerous awards for its powdery white sand and beautiful dunes. You will ride the sandy shoreline at a comfortable pace as you splash in and out of the low tide.
