At any time you arrive at the farm, Wontanna is here to welcome you and make a little meeting, where you will chat about your riding experience in the past and your expectations regarding your holiday with their horses. The rest of day is free to settle.
In the morning and after breakfast, you will meet Wontanna at the stable. After loading the horses on the truck, you will arrive at the destination in 15 minutes. Here, you will start your four-hour tour into the Sardinian mountains. La Silvaredda is the name of the area. As this name might sound like an old city of gold mines in the far West, in the Sardinian dialect, it means “the wildland”. Here, you will ride on off roads and small paths in the middle of the typical Sardinian nature made up of bushes of myrtle, wild strawberry trees, and Mediterranean scrubland.
More than one time, you will cross the river “Riu Toltu” and in spring, when everything is colorful and the wild river full of water, you will cross into a really deep water. The vegetation is fantastic in this season, like a jungle at some points, and that’s why the name is “the wildland”. After this beautiful round trip, you will go back home.
This full day trekking (six hours) goes to Monti Santu, a fantastic mountain tour. Hidden paths will lead you through the wild Sardinian nature, which the “beach tourist” would never find. On the way there, you might see the big Greek tortoise, hawks or wild boars, cows, and Sardinian donkeys.
The first part of the tour will take you up the mountain of “Monti Santu”, with its incredible granite rock formations. You will go further until the “Santu Satino” creek with its fountain, where the fresh water runs even in summer, embedded in the middle of a beautiful oak forest. Here, you will stop for a brunch hour. The second part will take you through pine woods and little canyons, showing you “the other face “ of Sardinia.
The mount of “Monte Moro” is only about 10 minutes far from the stable. It is part of the highest mountain range of the Gallura and its height is about 400 meters. This three-hour tour starts in the small fraction of Monticanaglia. After crossing the town, a large path will take you through a natural “bonsai garden”. Along the way, small bush vegetation is combined with smaller and bigger suggestive rocks, just thrown like dice. Riding up the mountain, you will find an ancient fortress and as you keep on going more up and up, the sight of the sea and the coasts will become more and more amazing.
Once on the top, you will have a short break to take photos, then the ones who don’t fear height will be able to climb the stair that brings to the Belvedere with its stunning view. Starting from the left side, you will see the Cannigione gulf, Palau, La Maddalena, Caprera, and even Corsica as well. While on the right side, you will see the entire Costa Smeralda, the Tavolara flat mountain, Aranci, and Porto Rotondo. After your short break in the shade, you will get back to the downhill.
The last tour takes you for a couple of hours to the seaside into the marine biotype of the Cannigione gulf. Just from the stable, you will start crossing the main road and arriving on a little path which leads you into a thick vegetation, like a jungle. After a while, you will arrive at the gulf and enter into the water with the horses. Little fishes will jump out of the sea, while the seagulls throw themselves towards their prey swooping to catch their food.
Depending on the season, you will get to see the storks and the wild ducks too. Generally, this is the herons home but with a little luck, you will be able to see the pink flamingos in November as well. While coasting always in water, at a certain point, you will cross to the other side of the bay. Sometimes, depending on ebb and flow, the horses will even swim. Once crossed, you will arrive on a sandy beach, and crossing the water once more, you will arrive at an ashore and continue on a dirt road, that will allow you to enjoy a good gallop. Ending the path, you will turn to ride back home.
Note: As this tour takes you into deep water and riders get often wet, it can be done only on hot days. During the winter or colder days, this tour will be changed to a beautiful two-hour beach tour (which on the other hand can’t be done in summer, as tourists will complain the horses who ride on the beach).

For beginners, Wontanna has patient and calm horses to ride in the arena. To make the trails, they don’t take beginners out. To get out, you need to be a good country rider with years of experience and if you want to trot or gallop, you should be able to handle this fast and spirited horses, as the pure Arabian and Anglo Arabs are. On the other hand, they are fearless and hardy, going ahead even on granite rocky mountains, climbing like wild goats. Also, road traffic, water, wild boars, bridges, wild dogs, stormy days, and other “spooky” things don’t matter, as they are perfectly trained, and some of them go even in endurance races.
