Double R Ranch

My daughter had an opportunity to train with Trina, a Rodeo Roper. She made great progress and felt like she learned a lot. While she did private lessons I went on long relaxing trails with truly unique scenery. Everyone is so warm and lovely we felt very relaxed. Every day was different and Ron tailors it to the group. There is a lot of thought and love into your stay and you feel it. We woke up to beautiful Mountain View’s and horses in the pastures. Truly transformative.

It’s hard to exactly put into words just how special Double R Ranch and everyone there is. Ron and Trina are such welcoming people and Renee and Will were also amazing people who made the whole experience that more special. The scenery is stunning and the horses are perfect. I can’t wait to go back.

There aren’t enough words to describe how amazing this place is but I’ll give it a try.

As a solo female traveller who has been to many places on my own, I can honestly say I felt immediately at ease & completely safe here. I’ve never felt more comfortable right off the bat.

More than that, Ron, Trina & Renee treat you like family from the get-go. They are the real deal, they live & breathe the ranch life and their authenticity shines through.

All the home cooked meals are shared family style and prepared by Karen. Everything is delicious and if you’re a dessert person, wait until you try her baked goodies, they’re amazing.

I stayed in the cabin and it was perfect. Nice & cozy and super comfy.

If you’re a dog person, you’re going to love all the sweet pups living at the ranch too.

You can tell right away how much everyone, including the wranglers Will and Gary, love the horses. They’re so well taken care of and it shows. It was nice to wake up in the morning to a beautiful sunrise and be able to stop by & say hello to them while they waited for their breakfast.

The rides are fantastic. Gary and Will are very attentive and much care is taken to pair you with the right horse for your skill level. And the scenery is gorgeous. My only regret is not having stayed longer.

I spent nine days at Double R Ranch, and it was truly extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and cared for. The trail rides were a lot of fun, taking us through different landscapes, and Trina’s lessons were incredible. Her patience, encouragement, and deep knowledge of horses made each ride meaningful, and I learned so much from her stories. I especially bonded with Bright Eyes outside of the rides, forming a deep emotional connection that made my time at the ranch moving and unforgettable.

Although my riding experience had been limited to English, learning Western riding here was a real joy, and I’m definitely paying for it back home! Ron went above and beyond, giving me experiences based on my interests while keeping me safe and supported. Will, the Wrangler, impressed me with his calm professionalism and skill, handling situations with care, and I picked up helpful tips from him along the way.

Renee, the Ranch Manager, did an amazing job juggling guiding, cooking when needed, and keeping everything organized. Her warmth and focus on the guest experience made the week feel personal and special. Karen, the cook, contributed delicious meals, including a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, which was a real treat.

This ranch isn’t just about horses; it’s about the people who run it, their care for every detail, and the love they show for the animals. I feel so lucky to have spent time here, and I can’t recommend Double R Ranch highly enough.

The best thing I found about this retreat is hard to narrow to just one. Since I have to I would say the unique way Ron, the ranch owner, had in matching your energy to your horse. The time invested in getting to know you while making sure you feel at home shows how much everyone at the ranch loves to do what they do. Your experience is personalized to your expectations with time and devotion that I think is rare in today's world. Their motto, "Come as guests, leave as family" definately holds true. This trip was life changing and I am looking forward to going back soon!!!

This was a wonderful experience. You feel like part of the family at the ranch. The area is stunningly beautiful. Everyone is welcoming. The lessons were really great, I felt much more confident handling a horse after my lessons with Trina. The casita was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I plan on going back, and would highly recommend the RR ranch to anyone interested in a horseback riding vacation.

EVERYTHING. This ranch is exactly what I was looking for, from the activities to the food to the people that work there.

I felt like home and living a dream! The horses are in great shape and RON matches them perfectly with the rider.

The wranglers are awesome and the food is a 5 star.

Wonderful experience not to be missed. The ranch crew were professional, the horses were well trained, the food was wonderful and my cabin was very comfortable. Meals were family style and that isn't something I get a lot of, so that felt nice. Loved the starry nights as there is no light pollution. Sunset rides were my favorite. I have a little horse riding experience, but still a beginner, however, I was well matched with two horses and never felt scared. The ranch dogs were friendly and I gladly gave lots belly rubs. I felt well taken care of. I was sad to leave, but hope to return. High recommend the full ranch experience.

Ron and Trina are fabulous hosts. They immediately made me feel welcomed and right at home. Their ranch is rustic but very comfortable. Sitting on the porch of my cabin, drinking my coffee and listening to the horses munch their hay all while watching a beautiful sunrise, who could ask for anything more! The riding was through beautiful desert landscapes and led by very friendly, experienced wranglers. Three delicious meals a day. I was not disappointed in any aspect of this great getaway.

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family! The staff took such good care of us, they are just wonderful. The horses are happy and well cared for. The accommodations were lovely and the meals delicious and filling. The desert scenery and mountains were beautiful. We were in excellent hands on our trail rides. The wrangler took us on many different rides. We had many options to chose from. There’s a crew of delightful dogs as well. All in all, a trip of a lifetime for my daughter and myself! We sure hope to return!

We spent an incredible 6 days at the RR Ranch for our honeymoon, and couldn't have imagined a better experience. I had riding experience and my husband had never been on a horse, yet we were both able to enjoy the trails and horses together, and my husband left the Ranch with confidence on the horses.

The Ranch hands and guides were amazing, and the family atmosphere couldn't be beat.

We are already trying to figure out how to make our way back!

We were made to feel like family while staying at Ron & Trina's ranch. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. I Can't thank you all enough, Billy, Renee, Tessia, Shari, John, Hannah, and anyone else I've missed!

The food was all freshly prepared, and we never had the same meal twice! The horses were beautiful, and all experienced in looking after complete beginners. There are 7 dogs at the ranch, and they are all super friendly and adorable! Our accomodation was amazing.

When we arrived, we were the only guests for the first 4 days, so had our pick of the room choices. We chose the cottage, which sleeps up to 8 people. We felt very spoilt having a bedroom each for the 2 of us! Ron lent us the golf buggy to get to and from our cottage, as it was a 5 minute walk from the main ranch. I had so much fun driving that around every day. We tried roping and archery, which was super fun! And had a brilliant evening out watching a Rodeo.

There is also an above ground pool and hot tub, getting up at 4am to watch the sunrise from the hot tub was a highlight for me.

I would definitely recommend Double R Ranch anyone looking to try their first ranch holiday, you won't be disappointed!

I loved everything about my stay. I stayed for 4 days for a full ranch experience and I got everything I hoped for and more.

Accommodation was very comfortable. I was welcomed like a guest, not like a tourist, I ate all my meals with them. It really felt like I was part of the family.

I came to ride and I definitely spent a lot of time on a horse. Ranging from 3h to 7h a day depending on the number of rides you choose to do. I also took a private lesson with Trina that was really good. Even got to try a little bit of roping.

My horse Dante was amazing, very nice to ride and well trained.

Ron and Trina are amazing, they took me to Tombstone on Saturday so I could visit the city and they even invited me to a bull riding event.

I wish I could have stayed longer, there is so much to do. I definitely recommend this ranch, it was my best horse riding experience.

I had such an amazing time at the Double R Guest Ranch.

The staff are lovely, super accommodating and helpful. I really enjoyed the cosy bunk house and the great home-cooked meals. The staff joined us for the meals, shared their knowledge and stories and were genuinely interested in the guests wellbeing.

The horses are fit, healthy, happy, well-trained and just beautiful.

Everyone at the ranch has a respectful and gentle approach to horsemanship and all the animals. Ron’s intuition and wisdom for matching riders with the right horses is great. I loved the horse I was assigned, and did multiple different trail rides (my favorite being the three peaks ride and the sunset ride) during my stay. I also did a riding lesson with Trina because I wanted to know more about Western riding style. She is a great teacher and I loved her showing her how it’s done in style on her horse.

I’m an experienced rider myself, but I was pleased to see that at Double R Ranch even beginners are taken on breathtaking trailrides thanks to the good-natured and wise horses and the experienced staff. This is something that would be hard to find in my home country Finland and across Europe, where most decent trail rides require previous riding experience.

My stay at Double R Ranch was easily one of the best experiences of my life. Ron & Trina were so friendly and welcoming - all of the staff were incredibly accomodating, personable and helpful. The food was sensational, the trail rides were so much fun and the overall vibes of the ranch were amazing. My cabin was clean and comfortable, I will definitely be back again!

This was my first ranch holiday and I wasn't really sure what to expect but the Double R exceeded all my expectations. There was a small group of riders there during my trip, and we were all made to feel like part of the family. Ron and Trina were excellent hosts, and had some great help from Sharon, Kelly, Billy and Pancho. Ron, Billy and Pancho know the horses so well, and a great at matching horse and rider. Trina is a great teacher and we had a very helpful lesson in the arena with her. This was my first time riding Western, and I really learned a lot from her. The accommodation was really comfortable, and the food was freshly cooked and plentiful. As for the rides - I didn't do a fast ride, but was more than happy with the rides I did, and the scenery was fabulous. We saw some fantastic skies during the sunset rides. I cannot wait for my next visit.

I felt at home the minute Trina picked me up at the airport. The accommodations are perfect with a nice living area, and kitchen area. The food was always delicious and plenty of it. The horses are fabulous, and such care is taken to "match" the horse and rider. I enjoyed every ride I went on, but my favorite was the ride with Billy,Kelly and Pancho. Such a nice time just chatting and enjoying the well trained horses. I came to the ranch with low confidence even though I was an experienced rider. With Ron and the wranglers support, I left with renewed confidence! I really enjoyed my meals with all who worked there. Ron's philosophy is "come as strangers, leave as friends." Second visit "come as friends leave as family." Well, it's my first trip, certainly not my last, and I already feel like family! So, I wanted to find a home-style friendly ranch to escape my hectic work schedule.

From getting in the truck it ticked every box along the way. A cabin with amazing sunrise views, boot-filling home made food, a perfectly matched horse through to great hosts and my guide out on the trails. There wasn't anything that I would have changed.

I am looking forward to returning!

Ron, his wife, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They constantly made sure that I had everything I needed. The atmosphere of the place was just wonderful and the food they prepare is amazing!

We loved the horses, they were healthy and beautiful living in their natural element. We loved the people, we were well taken care of. We felt safe on and off the horses at all times, we were never left wanting. We loved the location of the authentic, rustic, working ranch. This is real life folks no flash no frills, it’s real cowboy country! If you are looking for the cowboy way here you go.

The Double R Ranch was the perfect place for me and my 19 year old daughter to spend her spring break. Getting there was a breeze (Thanks, Larry!) and the accommodations were more than we expected. The cottage was comfortable and roomy for the two of us. Trina's food was amazing and plentiful and always right on time. But the horses. Oh, the horses. They were some of the happiest and healthiest I have ever seen. They were all calm and well trained and the most amazing athletes I have ever known. My daughter and I are very experienced riders and we were NOT disappointed in the quality of the horses, the different terrains and the willingness of Ron and Pancho and Billy to challenge us with different trails and horses. It was some of the most challenging riding that we have ever done but we never felt that we were in any danger. The skill of the guides and the strength and steadiness of the horses were huge factors in our successful trip. This was our first time to the desert and I feel like we got the perfect introduction to it's beauty and it's danger. Dinner in Tombstone was also a highlight!

Family atmosphere, friendly, and well run. More than just horseback riding, an experience of a real, working ranch in the Arizona desert. We were doted on, but not too much. Meals were family style with the staff and owners, well prepared and plenty of food. Met guests from England, Germany and all around the country. Sunrises were beautiful. Saw three new calves, including one who had just been born. I was given some personalized riding instruction as I hadn't ridden in 40 years and was unsure of my riding form. Lots of great dogs who were so friendly. Owner took us to Tombstone which she has a personal connection to, which made it special. Endless stars at night. Cabin was cozy and well appointed. Personal touches at every point of the experience.

The ranch is a wonderful place if you really love horses and want to ride a variety of sizes and breeds. The landscape is really spectacular and the hosts are beyond description, but must include that they are loving and caring with attention to detail and a great sense of humor. Ron and Trina are the best. One of the best days of my life was the all day horse ride up into the mountains. It’s really beyond description and so fulfilling for your heart and soul.

Ranch hands, Poncho and Billy were spectacular and we bonded very quickly! They are professional, knowledgeable and good natured! Will miss them for sure!

The hosts, Ron and Trina, were gracious beyond expectation. I was able to bond with my horse Perfect American and the rides were beautiful. I learned about the care and maintenance of the horses. Sunrises with the horses was one of my favorite times of day. Ranch hands Gary and Pancho were full of warm personality. Also a must to recognize the ranch dogs! The animals rule this roost!!

Everyone at the Double R was so welcoming and friendly. They made every effort to ensure I was satisfied and got the most out of my time there. Ron and Trina made my visit truly special.

Immersive horseback riding, beautiful scenery, stay away from modern culture, and get a close touch with those big, gentle, intimate animals. There are a lot of trails in the ranch area. Every day starts early, after finishing the delicious American-style breakfast, then set off for some private classes and trails. Typically there's one trail in the morning and one in the afternoon, each takes around 1- 2.5 hours, depending on weather and timing, all those activities are included in the package excluding private learning lessons. The landscape is dry and vivid, with many cacti growing, and small animals like lizards crawl inside.

Trina is able to simplify the horseback riding skills and make it a lot of fun. The trail rides are breathtakingly beautiful. Ron and the wranglers make them safe and fun. The cabins have everything you need including a washer and dryer. The meals are nutritious and delicious. Definitely worth it!

Ron, Trina, Billy, Poncho are all amazing! Larry, our driver, from the airport was full of information. We did the all inclusive 4 day stay. It was amazing. Horses are top notch, trails can entertain beginners to advanced. We took the 8 hr trip and thought it’s long, it was breathtaking. A trip to a roping event, Tombstone and Big Nose Kate’s with Ron was a blast. Evenings talking about local history, rodeos and everything in between. We met other great travelers.

I just spent 4 days at this ranch and had a GREAT time. Ron and Trina are amazing hosts and we enjoyed yummy meals and many laughs together! The cowboys Billy and Poncho were the best and each day we rode different breathtaking trails with them.They have a great selection of different horses and they are all the sweetest horses you can imagine!! Oh and if you’re a dog person, you’re gonna love all 8 of their dogs! Highly recommend this ranch!!!

I was fortunate to spend last weekend as a guest at the ranch.

Being an older, single English lady and vegan to boot, I had thought perhaps I might be looked upon askance, but such was not the case. ( Well, maybe my choice of riding pants...LOL )

From the moment that the owner, Ron, picked me up at the airport I felt at ease with his calm, welcoming manner and his wry sense of humor.

His gracious wife, Trina, went out of her way to provide me with delicious vegan repasts and to my surprise and delight both she and Ron partook of them also.

As the vast majority of visitors to DoubleR ranch attest, the scenery is spectacular, the horses are sure-footed and well trained.... Ron has a knack for matching horse to rider.

The cabin far exceeded my expectations, it is cozy, well stocked and full of interesting decorative touches.

Lastly, the well water is better than any bottled water I’ve ever purchased.

My love of horses was rekindled and I hope to return soon.

Coming from Germany I found myself in a totally different world there at the Double R Guest Ranch. I had the time of my life and felt comfy with all the humans and all the animals from hour one on. I highly recommend this place!
