The horse riding has been present at the Prestranek Castle since the 18th century when the Austrian emperor Charles VI bought the Estate and joined it with the Lipica stud farm. Prestranek Castle Estate continue the tradition of horse breeding and horse-related activities. The first Icelandic horse was brought to Slovenia in 1987. Since then, the interest in this horse breed spread throughout Slovenia. The Prestranek Castle Estate has been in the Icelandic horse breeding business for over two decades.

In Prestranek Castle Estate's apartments, you can spend the night in six apartments. The apartments are equipped with a kitchenette and a bathroom. The apartments are 33 square meters and have a higher floor with a master bedroom with a view on nature and horses. The down floor can be adjusted by the number of guests (with extra beds and also with children bed).

Icelandic horses
Icelandic horses are known for their friendly nature and lively temperament, durability, and robustness as well as colorful and dense hair. They are very helpful and willing to work with people. In order to ride these horses and their rides, in addition to the basics of English riding, it is necessary to know the special features of riding the Icelandic horses.
Since this horse is a special horse, it is also adapted to their riding equipment, from a thinner knot to the Icelandic type of saddle. They are suitable for both adults and children. They are suited for sports recreational and travel purposes as well.
School riding
Individual riding lessons and riding lessons: Prestranek Castle Estate perform individual riding lessons on Icelandic and big horses. In the initial course, learn how to approach and move around close to the horse, how to establish the right mutual communication with him. You also get to know how to nurture, feed and equip it and win the riding basics in the various horse rides. The course is organized individually or in a group and adapts to your needs and desires.
Horse riding
Horse riding will be on the property of Prestranek Castle which offers you an experience of nature from the horseback - field riding. With a riding guide and skillful Icelandic horses, you will walk along the castle estate and the beautiful Postojna landscape.

Lieu
The Estate Prestranek Castle is approximately 300 hectares and is a tourist spot near Postojna. It is surrounded by forests, meadows, and numerous natural, cultural, and historical sights that invite you to visit them as they are the perfect place to relax.
The main activities of the estate are tourism and agriculture. Within the activities, Prestranek Castle Estate offers groups presentations, visits of Prestranek Castle and the horses of the Icelandic pony breed (over 55 in the herd), a visit to the ecological farm, which deals with the production of organic milk. The farm consists of 370 cattle, of which the special feature is the beef Black Angus, which is outdoor all year.

“Na gradu” restaurant
In the homely ambient of the Na Gradu restaurant, a wide variety of dishes and drinks are served. During summertime, its large outdoor terrace offers a great view of the meadow with horses below. On the terrace, you can bathe in sunlight and enjoy aromas and rich tastes of a host of specialties made from Aberdeen Angus organic beef, bred at the Prestranek Castle Estate.
The restaurant’s interior may serve up to 65 guests and is suitable for groups. By prior arrangement, birthday celebrations, business meetings, corporate parties, and other festivities can be organized.
