Melides Almargem, LDA has selected comfortable and luxury accommodations where you can relax after a day on the saddle, along with great dining options. Double and single rooms are available. Clients will stay in the same hotel for the week. The first option is Monte Ponte Pedra and the second option is Nomade Hotel Rural.

- Ride through Eucalyptus forests

Day 4: Tuesday
- Early ride to the beach and over the dunes
- Picnic lunch
- Ride through the dunes and pine forest
- Dinner and overnight at Ponte Pedra / Nomade
Day 5: Wednesday
- Rest day at Ponte Pedra / Nomade
- You can walk through the pine forest, ride a bike, or just relax

About the tour
All the trails have been carefully planned and include a variety of terrain. Each day, you will visit a different area. The routes can be adapted to your riding skills. The rides will take you into the hills where you can appreciate the beautiful forest of Serra de Grândola, with famous cork trees that have grown for centuries in one of the unique, untouched environments of Portugal.
You will have the chance to ride through the beach or Melides lagoon and feel the strength and unique beauty of the Atlantic Ocean on your feet. In this horse riding tour, non-riders are also welcome, and the pace will be moderate with trotting and medium to long canters and some gallops.
Horses
Good-natured, sure-footed Portuguese Lusitanos trained for trails, using very comfortable sheepskin Portuguese military saddles.
Levels and experience
Intermediate. When booking, please provide them with information about your riding skills and experience to help them establish your ability for the holiday.
Pace
Moderate with trotting and medium to long canters. Some gallops.
Safety when riding
They recommend that for your own safety that you wear a hard hat that meets current safety standards. It is important that your hat fits properly and that you feel comfortable and secure with it. Whilst riding or in the vicinity of horses, you must comply with the instructions of your guide. It is a condition of your booking that you accept the guide's authority to require you to dismount or to refuse you to ride if, for any reason, he considers that you may endanger your safety and the safety or welfare of the horses or any other person.
There is an inherent risk involved in horse riding, and even the best-trained horse can put a foot in a hole or be startled by an animal out of the bushes. You may fall and get injured. Therefore, you are requested to sign an acknowledgment of the risks associated with riding and acceptance of personal liability. If you are not allowed to ride because you refuse to sign this disclaimer or if you refuse to use a hard hat, you will have no claim against them.
Instructeurs
Luis Lamas
Luís is 29 years old and he is a veterinarian. He is the vet of his horses and he lives with them. He finished veterinary school three years ago and did his practice in Spain for three months and in American Fondouk in Morocco, which is a voluntary association. He is also an endurance rider for 15 years and he is an experienced rider in the countryside. He does competitions of 40, 80, 120, and 160 kilometers.
Locatie
The tour will take place in Portugal. Melides Almargem, LDA has two different stables, one on the hills and one on the beach. The stables of the hills are located only 15 kilometers from the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and the beach stables are located only 500 meters from the beach.
Eten
Selected breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included in the price. Please advise Melides Almargem, LDA, in advance of your special dietary requirements. Luis will do the rides and will have dinner with the clients on the first and last nights. The other nights will have someone from his staff doing the transfer to dinner and dinner with the clients in a local restaurant.
The clients will pay directly to the restaurant at the end of the dinner for what they have eaten or at the end of all meals, but that will be organized directly with the clients on site. The dinners are not included in the tour, and lunch on the rest day is also not included.
All lunches on the riding days will be included in the price and will be a picnic lunch in the countryside or beachside, where the clients will have a main dish, dessert, water, and juice. All homemade! The lunch and dinner on the day off are in the hotel, but if the clients want to do any other restaurant option and extra activities, Melides Almargem, LDA is glad to help and bring the clients to places that have extra activities.

Arrival by airplane
Please book your flight to arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Melides Almargem, LDA will pick you up from the airport. You need to arrive at this airport in order to complete the transfer of the group to the first hotel of your ride.
The meeting point at the airport is located to the right after leaving the luggage collection area. You will be welcomed there by a representative who will drive you to your hotel. Transfer from Lisbon to Melides outside of the pick up hours (after 5 p.m. on the arrival day) will be charged an extra 180 EUR (car for 3 people).
Arrival by car
If you choose to travel by car you can join them at Lisbon’s Portela Airport (LIS); they can pick you up at the main door of the Church of Melides.
