Program
Day 1: Arrival
The arrival day is for settling in and enjoying a relaxed evening before your riding adventure starts.
Day 2: Meet Your Horse - Ranch Ride
On Day 2, you will get to meet your horse for the length of your stay. You will be given a quick “how to ride lesson” before taking you out on your very first ride: a one-hour ride at the ranch.
Day 3: Half-day Ride on Riding Mountain National Park
Today, you discover Riding Mountain National Park with our Half Day Ride (~4 hours on the horse).
Day 4: Two-hour Jumpstart Riding Tour on Riding Mountain National Park
Day 4 will bring you into a different corner of the national park with Jumpstart, a two-hour tour. This shorter ride in the middle of your stay is probably needed to relax those sore muscles a little bit and to prepare yourself for the next day because…
Day 5: Full-Day Ride
… Day 5 will be your longest day of riding with a full-day ride (~6 hours on the horse). But the most gorgeous views are waiting for you in between!
Day 6: Half-Day Ride
Day 6 will be another half-day ride – a different route/corner of the park than the first one though!
Day 7: Two-hour Buckaroo
Your week full of riding ends with the 2-hour ride Buckaroo on the ranch property and includes a check-up on the cattle herd. Use the chance to ask the cowboys all the questions you have about the more traditional way of raising beef cattle!
Included excursions
Please note that our rides are generally at a walking pace. For us, trail riding is about enjoying our beautiful nature while having a great time connecting with people and horses - it is not about speed and adventure. Our horses are well trained for what we want them to be - being reliable companions for trail rides - please do not expect fancy broke Western show horses :-)
Instructors
Tom
Thomas loves his Tennessee walking horses and riding in the park. He has combined that love and is now sharing it with you as a certified licensed guide for the Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba. From rides on the ranch to camping in the park, he will be with you all the way and share his wealth of knowledge of the park with you as well as stories from the last decades of guiding rides. Most of the rides in your package will be with Tom!
Jana
Starting as a guest herself, Jana has worked with us for a few years by now - as Tom always says, we can't get rid of her anymore! She is a licensed guide for Riding Mountain National Park, leads rides on the ranch property, and works with our young horses. Not to forget, she’s organizing rides and horses (and Tom ;-) ) in the background. Additionally, she is responsible for our website and social media activities - so, don't wonder if Jana takes pictures of everything and everyone!
