Program

Day 1: Arrival at Masia Cal Robusto

Arrival in the afternoon at the Masía, located in the heart of Alt Empordà. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a glass of cava, the quintessential Catalan drink. Afterwards, you can settle into your rooms and meet both the team and the horses that will accompany you on this adventure. The welcome dinner will feature typical Empordà dishes, made with local produce and paired with local wines.

Day 2: First equestrian route and visit to Girona

After a hearty breakfast with homemade pastries, country bread, and local cured meats, you'll begin a two-hour horseback riding tour with an official guide, exploring olive and almond groves and holm oak forests teeming with birds such as hoopoes, bee-eaters, and kestrels. Lunch at the masia with homemade Catalan cuisine.

In the afternoon, transfer to Girona, where an official local guide will accompany you on a visit to the Jewish Quarter, the Gothic cathedral, and the colorful buildings along the Onyar River, uncovering the history and secrets of this ancient city. Back at the Masía, a balanced Mediterranean dinner awaits you, featuring traditional Catalan dishes.

Day 3: Horseback Riding and Cultural Visit to Figueres

After an energetic breakfast with fresh fruit, artisan cheeses, and tomato bread, you'll set off in the morning for a 3-hour horseback ride, with more opportunities to gallop and the chance to observe migratory birds such as flamingos, white storks, or grey herons, depending on the season. Lunch will be served at the farmhouse, with traditional dishes such as chicken with shrimp or fish stew.

In the afternoon, you'll travel to Figueres for a two-day cultural visit: first to Salvador Dalí's birthplace, and then to the iconic Dalí Theatre-Museum, which houses the artist's largest collection and immerses you in his fascinating surrealist universe. The day concludes with a seasonal dinner featuring traditional Catalan recipes.

Day 4: Medieval Villages Route, Besalú and Wine Tasting

The day begins with a breakfast of artisan jams, Empordà honey, and yogurt from Peralada Mas Marcè, a farm located in the village, Siurana d’Empordà, just 900 meters from the farmhouse and renowned throughout Europe for the quality of its dairy products.

During today's horse riding route, you will spend approximately 5 hours exploring medieval villages steeped in history. The landscape invites you to gallop along endless trails surrounded by old stone houses. On some days of the week—although you never know exactly which—you might encounter the local shepherd and his spectacular flock of more than 1,000 Ripollà sheep grazing around the farmhouse, a typical Empordà scene that connects with its rural roots.

Lunch will be a picnic in one of the villages, with local produce: tomato bread, cured meats, cheeses, fruits, water and local wine. On the way back, there's time for a rest at the Masía before heading to Besalú to stroll along its iconic Romanesque bridge and its historic center.

On your way back, taking advantage of the proximity to a renowned local winery, you’ll stop to enjoy an authentic wine tasting experience. You’ll visit the vineyard and learn firsthand about the winemaking process, guided by passionate local experts who will share their knowledge and the unique character of Empordà wines. You’ll then return to Cal Robusto for dinner and a well-deserved rest after a day full of horses, history, culture, and flavor.

Day 5: Route to the sea and the Aiguamolls Natural Park

After a traditional breakfast of tomato bread, olive oil, and local cured meats, you embark on a full-day route to Sant Pere Pescador beach. You'll cross the Fluvià River and ride along its banks, entering the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, a protected area teeming with flamingos, cormorants, grey herons, and night herons. You'll experience the unforgettable experience of riding on the Mediterranean sand in the heart of the Costa Brava.

On the way back to the farmhouse, the route will take you past the extensive apple orchards of the Empordà, where internationally recognized varieties are grown. Along the way, you'll also be able to spot the island of Caramany, a natural gem in the middle of the Fluvià River, a bird sanctuary and a protected area. Lunch will be a picnic in a natural setting next to the Fluvià River.

At the end of the day, you will leisurely return to the farmhouse, where you can rest and enjoy a homemade dinner of fideuá or seafood rice, one of the jewels of Catalan cuisine.

Day 6: Horseback Riding and Olive Oil Tasting

A nutritious breakfast with homemade pastries, fresh fruit, and natural juice prepares you for the day ahead. A short 2-hour horseback riding tour follows country roads surrounded by vineyards and grain fields. Next, you'll visit Mas Bordas, a traditional “trull” (olive mill), where you'll taste premium olive oils, learning about their production and flavors. Lunch will include seasonal dishes from the Empordà cuisine and international cuisine.

In the afternoon, there's time for relaxation, with a spa option. The farewell dinner will be held at the Masía with a special menu combining the best of Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine.

Day 7: Farewell and Departure

After a final breakfast at the Masía with homemade pastries and freshly brewed coffee, free time to say goodbye to the horses and the surroundings before the departure.
