Munster Technological University (MTU)

You will have your own room at the five-star residence on the campus of MTU (residential option). The campus boasts a state-of-the-art leisure complex with two pools - 18 and 25 meters - as well as an indoor multi-sports hall and four all-weather pitches for use by the students. So, rain or shine, there is plenty to keep students occupied.

MTU is located in the residential suburb of Bishopstown, approximately two kilometers from Cork City Center. It is an extremely well-equipped school, with science rooms, language rooms, a business room, a geography room, practical studies rooms, a library, an art room, two computer rooms, and assembly areas.

The school is also equipped for all sports, with two grass playing fields, one all-weather playing field, two tennis courts, and a large multi-purpose sports hall.

The spacious classrooms, combined with the highly qualified and experienced teachers, and matched with a magnificent social program, all contribute to forming a world-class program for children aged between 11 and 17. At all times, the students will be supervised by their own leaders and accompanied by a CEC leader.

Program

During the English and horse-riding program, students will build and develop their confidence in communicating in English, as well as increase their vocabulary and social skills with 20 lessons per week (45 minutes per lesson). They will attend English language classes in the morning at MTU and have the opportunity to go horse riding in the afternoons at CEC's International Horse-riding Centre in Castlemore Stables.

In this exclusive program, students will get the chance to experience horse riding in a fun, exciting, and safe environment. Under the supervision of professional trainers, students will undertake riding, which is catered to suit their ability level, and includes cross-country, fun and games, and stable management.

Horse-riding is offered at all levels, ensuring that the program is suited to riders from beginner to advanced levels. Evening activities may consist of disco, karaoke, and bingo. A full-day trip is also provided every Saturday to a venue further afield.

Academic

Classes will run every morning from 09:00 to 12:15 and will be interactive, with the main focus being on improving the students’ spoken ability and vocabulary expansion. All students undergo a placement test before starting their course. A progress test every Friday will ensure that the progress of each individual is monitored on an ongoing basis.

CEC teachers are native English speakers and fully qualified in the teaching of English as a foreign language. All possess a primary degree in addition to TEFL qualifications. All centers are recognized by the Irish Department of Education. The use of course materials is included in the price. The average number of students per class is 10 to 12, with a maximum of 15.
