Being part of the English and horse riding program offers students the opportunity to gain proficiency in English while making friends, horse riding, and having fun here at Cork English College in Cork. This retreat combines English language classes with exciting horse-riding activities. In this exclusive program, students get the chance to experience horse riding in a fun, exciting, and safe environment. Under the supervision of professional trainers, the students undertake riding, which is catered to suit their ability level, and includes cross country, fun and games, and stable management.

English and horse riding program

Following their morning language classes, students enjoy horse riding for five hours per week at Cork English College's equestrian center. Horse riding is offered at all levels ensuring the program is suited to riders from beginner's level to advanced. Under the supervision of professional trainers, the students undertake riding, which is catered to their own level and includes cross country, fun and games, and stable management. Evening activities consist of disco, karaoke, and bingo. A full-day trip is provided every Saturday to a venue further afield.

Academic

Classes run every morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and are interactive with the main focus on improving the students’ spoken ability and vocabulary expansion. All students undergo a placement test before starting their course. A progress test every Friday ensures that the progress of each individual is monitored on an ongoing basis.

Cork English College teachers are native English speakers and fully qualified in the teaching of English as a foreign language. All possess a primary degree in addition to TEFL qualifications. All centers are recognized by the Irish Department of Education. The use of course materials is included. The average number of students per class is 10 - 12 with a maximum of 15.

Location

This program is based at Munster Technological University (MTU), located in the residential suburb of Bishops, approximately two kilometers from Cork City Center. It is an extremely well-equipped school, with science rooms, language rooms, a business room, a geography room, practical studies rooms, a library, an art room, two computer rooms, and assembly areas. The school is also equipped for all sports with two grass playing fields, one all-weather playing field, two tennis courts, and a large multi-purpose sports hall.

The spacious classrooms combined with the highly qualified and experienced teachers matched with a magnificent social program all contribute to forming a world-class program for children aged between 11 and 17. So rain or shine, there is plenty to keep the students occupied. At all times, the students are supervised by their own leaders and are accompanied by an Irish teacher.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 24.2% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 28 days before arrival.
