They operate in the Shqeria area which is a part of the Hotova National Park located near the Lengarica canyon and thermal waters, one of the most visited attractions in the south of Albania, a perfect place that is known for its traditional cuisine, hospitality, characteristic villages like Benja, Ogdunani, Leuse, Badlonje, with its stone houses, cobblestones, cold-water springs, and old churches with amazing paintings.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at the guesthouse where you will be greeted with a Gliko (a traditional homemade sweet that the town is famous for), get some information about the nearby area, and then settle in your room. Later, you can enjoy dinner at a nearby restaurant that offers local specialties.
Day 2: Riding day
After enjoying the delicious breakfast at the terrace, meet at 8:30 a.m. in front of Funky Guest House (summer season) where you will travel for 10 minutes by a 4x4 jeep to Gjinkar (the place where the horses are kept). When you arrive there, you will meet Lili who will introduce you to the horses. You will first feed them with apples or bread to get to know them better, after that, they will provide training for beginners on how to operate the horse or what to remember during the trip.
Based on the experience of the riders, they will choose the trail that you will follow, but the favorite is alongside the beautiful Lengarica Canyon which is an old trail that used to connect several villages in the area during ancient times. On this trail, you will cross the stone bridge of Kadiut dating back to the time of the Ottoman Empire where you will stop for a short break for some refreshments and snacks.
When you finish your horse trekking trip, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the area for some delicious traditional Albanian food. After a siesta, you can join the locals where you can have a drink and watch the world go by. Later on, enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants in the town. An album with a combination of photos or videos will be sent to you. Funky Guest House shall see you soon at future adventures.
Horses
The horses are very well-trained, calm, and strong, Mountain and Myzeqea or cross-breed are perfect for every type of rider and the terrain that will be covered during the trips. The Albanian horses are known for their freedom of movement, agility in difficult terrain, endurance, very good for long-distance use, and exceptionally strong for their size and many have an easily ridden ambling gait. The Albanians are hardy efficient horses, they are often used as carriage horses as well as for riding and light draft. The saddle types that are offered are Western saddles with comfortable helmets.
Beginner riding experience
Sitting on a horse for the first time will be an exciting experience as it is something special. First of all, you will be introduced to the horses and feed them with apples and bread to get to know and make a bond with them. After that, you will be given full instructions on how to operate them and things to be aware of, and remember. There will be basic rules of horse riding lessons after you complete a few hours of riding lessons.
It is expected that the lessons will boost your self-confidence so that you will be prepared for your first trail ride. By enjoying this trail ride, you will easily get used to knowing the character of the horse. Please do not worry as you will be guided by the guide and instructor throughout your day. Also, you will discuss with your instructor what and how your next day will be, and if you feel comfortable, you can enjoy a short trekking trip.
Experienced rider half-day trail ride trips
For experienced riders, there will be beautiful and old trails where you will explore natural beauties, cultural monuments, characteristic villages, and traditions. Avenir graduated in Business Management at the University of Coventry. Working with his family running Funky Guest House and Adventures, which is a friendly family business located in the heart of Permet town. I have growing up at my grandparents village, so since the young age i have been close to animals and enjoy nature. Apart from running our guest house i enjoy being a horse trekking guide during our tours. It continues to be a very beautiful experience for me and I would like all our guests to have such an experience because it is completely different from what they experience before.
Lili Nikolla
Olsi has grown up and lives in a village and knows everything about the region around, old trails that he follows. He's an expert in horse riding, looking after them on a day-to-day basis and preparing the horses ready for the trips. He is a very passionate person about nature and wild nature in general.

Things to do (optional)
Permet is well-known for outdoor activities, so apart from horse trekking trips, Funky Guest House organizes other activities such as hiking and visiting cultural monuments, or national parks by a 4x4 tour. After the daily tours, you can enjoy the thermal baths which are located 15 minutes away from the guest house, the hot springs of Benja near Permet, soak in the pools, some placed under an Ottoman stone bridge with the snow-topped mountains in the background.
This is the most visited attraction in the area as it is natural and unspoiled. The thermal baths contain sulfur and have enormous high curative effects for rheumatism but some of them can cure the stomach or skin. The Benja Thermal Waters have a temperature of 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.
