The program is designed for the beginner wishing to gain confidence in horseback riding. There will be a combination of half-day and full-day learning, totalling 18 hours in a week. The accommodation consists of four apartments, each having two beds, a shower, and a toilet. They were built in the year 2000, they are suitably furnished and offer comfortable seating, and they are your own private area.
Program
The stationary program plan for beginner riders is 18 hours of riding throughout the week. You leave the ranch in the morning hours and ride between two to four hours to different locations.
Some trails end up at a Portuguese restaurant where you take lunch; on trails where there are no restaurants, you organize your own lunches. The group will always take the time for a coffee and drinks in the many typical Portuguese cafes. Back at the ranch in the evenings, you can sit around the campfire and enjoy some drinks, relaxing under the beautiful Algarvean night skies.
It doesn't matter which trail you decide to take; you can always enjoy the countryside on the back of one of the horses.

Location
The Trails
Horse Shoe Ranch is situated in an ideal countryside for your Western riding trails (close to the Monchique Mountains), which is their specialty. The Wild West is at the back door, and you will find it daily on the back horse riding.
The trail starts by going through the scented Macchia, through trees and shrubland, over hills and dales, and through paths that are only accessible on horseback, by mountain bike, or by walking. You will not see another soul, nor pass houses; you only enjoy the magnificent views and the peacefulness of the countryside around you—just the horse and rider.
The trails vary between one and six hours in duration. It doesn't matter which trail you decide to take; you can always enjoy the countryside on the back of one of the horses.
Food
In the separate kitchen and covered area, the Horse Shoe Ranch team serves a plentiful breakfast, with coffee, tea, and a choice of fruit juices. Lunch is either taken outside during the trails or here, where they offer cold meals.
A freshly cooked hot evening meal or BBQ is served often with invited guests and friends. The kitchen is always open and is for the use of clients at any time, so help yourself whenever you need; the fridges are always stocked full of food and drink.

Jeep safari
A Jeep safari is always a lot of fun. They use a U.M.M. (the only vehicle produced in Portugal), leaving the made-up roads and driving to the Monchique mountains via dust tracks, unmade roads, and riverbeds.
Excursion to Marina in Portimão
You can arrange an excursion to the Marina in Portimão, where you can board, for instance, the boat "Alegria" and sail along the beautiful Algarvian coastline with its gorgeous rock formations and caves. You can also consider a night at the "Round-up Saloon" in Carvoeiro with its 'live music or karaoke.
Go to the local beach
You can always go to sunbathe or spend the day at the beach, which is only five kilometers airline distance from the ranch. Horse Shoe Ranch is happy to take you there and collect you when you require.
