Ranch work
What does that actually mean? This week, Il Cornacchino would like to give you an understanding of the basic works at a horse ranch. At Cornacchino, they have been keeping, breeding, and training horses for more than 20 years. The land consists of more than 100 hectares and is home to about 50 horses in small droves in broad meadows with natural streams, small forests, and scattered rock formations.
The youngest ones were just born last year and the oldest horse counts already 34 years.
These surroundings are a perfect setting to show you the daily chores, as well as the special works at a horse ranch. During this week, you will, amongst other things, learn how to supply and saddle your workhorse, practice one-handed riding, open and close gates from the horseback, drive horse herds, and learn how to manage a "hand horse" in rough terrain.
At the end of the week, go together on the "Horse Drive" where you drive one of the herds to their new grassland with your "hand horse", whichever is carrying the supplies for the BBQ.
