Rancho Malcaminos is situated at 2 km from Tabernas city and at 30 kms from Almería city. We offer a inn at rancho specially equipped for full enjoyment of Desert of Tabernas: a total of six rooms, four single rooms and two double rooms. Accommodation and breakfast (self-service) are included: we prepare all the goods at refrigerator and you can prepare yourself your breakfast. Each room has its space.
The inn has been designed based on an old building used on the former farm, creating a space conducive to promoting cordial coexistence. You will find:
- Kitchen where you will be able to cook by yourself. We offer also the option to a self-service menu for the days of your stay (extra charge).
- Two toilets/showers: Shared
- Large terrace with views over the Tabernas Desert, a peaceful place where you can relax and enjoy exceptional views
Note: In case you prefer to stay at Tabernas village or any other hotel in Almería city, Malcaminos can manage for you. we will take only the difference between one and the other accommodation.
Program
Welcome at rancho.
The day of the tour, Malcaminos will provide protection, assign a horse. Small contact before departure if necessary.
There are 2 options of itinerary for this activity, depending on the time of the year and the surrounded conditions (some western villages are not open during the weekdays or if there is any movie working at some places of the desert).
Adventure starts, riding inside the Desert of Tabernas. During the activity, the instructor will suggest some options to enjoy the three gaits of the horse. The itinerary follow the ramblas, dirt floors, and a small stretch of asphalt, with stops for taking photos in geological, natural, and cinematographic interest areas.
Western village set visit. There you will be able to have a rest time for you and for horse also. Time for the western movie set visit and meal at buffet restaurant or alternative option.
This program is not suitable for:
- Younger than 16 years. For underages, it is required a signed permission of the legal guardian and a sign of the discharge of responsibility
- People who weigh more than 90 kilograms
- People in low physical shape
- People older than 70 years
Important:
- From 16 to 70 years old. For minors, at least one legal guardian must sign a specific liability waiver.
- Experience required: real intermediate and experienced. Be comfortable in the 3 gaits of horse
- Private insurance required in case you don't want to use mandatory protection (helmet).
Included excursions
Western village visit
You will generally go to MiniHollywood because its the first Western village built for Sergio Leone movies and the only one where Clint Eastwood worked when he came to Almería. Here were filmed "For a few dollars more" and "The Good, the bad and the ugly". Its also possible, in case MH is closed we can go to another western village set where also many movies have been filmed.

Théo Bocher
Théo is a qualified riding instructor, specializing in show jumping and guided trails. He has been responsible for the horses at Malcaminos Ranch since 2020. Théo speaks English, French, and Spanish.
Cristina
Cristina is a certified tour guide and production manager in Malcaminos for all activities. She is also the owner of Rancho Malcaminos. Cristina speaks English, French, and Spanish.
Andrés Jiménez Zapata
Andrés is a qualified tour guide. He is the production assistant on Malcaminos riding trails. Andrés speaks English, French, and Spanish.
Location
The Tabernas Desert is the European Hollywood in all its essence. Your host offers to the riders the chance to experience an adventure on horseback in these cinematic unique places. If you are a fan of Western and Adventures movies, here is you will find your place. But, also its a jewel of landscape with an amazing geologic story and human settlement history.
You will ride inside a big sedimentary valley formed during 3 millions of years at 400 metres deep inside Mediterranean Sea. The erosion has formed and continue forming this great landscape which will remind you Arizona, California, Nevada or New México and also a lo lot of more landscapes all around the world.

Driving directions
If you come with car or motorhome, Malcaminos will send you instructions to reach the ranch. Access to the ranch is easy. It is approximately 2 kilometers from the village of Tabernas. It is already in the desert area and therefore, it is important to follow the instructions we will send you. Free parking at the rancho. For motorhome: Parking at the ranch is free. It is important to let us know in advance that you are coming with this type of vehicle to check together the accesses depending on vehicle characteristics.
Arrival by airplane
- Airport transfer: 110 EUR (per person)
Please book your flight to arrive at Almería Airport (LEI). The round-trip taxi fare between the airport and Rancho (Airport–Rancho–Airport) is approximately 110 EUR per car. Please note that this price may vary depending on the day—weekday rates are generally lower, while weekend rates tend to be higher. Malcaminos does not profit from this service; they simply coordinate the booking by contacting the local taxi service in Tabernas to arrange pickup.
Arrival by bus
You have to know that the public transports are not good in this area. Its very important to check properly before. The company is ALSA and you can check time table by its website. Once you arrive to Tabernas, we can pick you up at bus stop previous agreed the time or you can come walking. We are at 20 minutes walking from the second bus stop in Tabernas (coming from Almería).
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 40% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
