      Unforgettable Honeymoon

      This review is long overdue, but our experience was simply too unforgettable not to share. My partner and I spent our honeymoon in Argentina this past January, and out of our two-week journey—which included indulgent dinners at Michelin-starred restaurants in Buenos Aires and a luxurious stay at a Relais & Châteaux property in Villa La Angostura—nothing compared to the five magical days we spent with Lisa, Ivan, and their family.

      Nestled in the breathtaking wilderness of Patagonia, their home felt like something out of a dream. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced with warmth and hospitality that made us feel not just like guests, but like old friends. Lisa is a true artist, not only in the kitchen—where she creates meals that rival any fine dining experience—but also in her handmade ceramics that elevate every dish into a work of art. Each meal was a sensory experience, deeply rooted in the local culture and made with such care and intention.

      Ivan, meanwhile, is a true Patagonian gaucho, with a deep knowledge of the land and a profound connection to his horses and nature. His stories, guidance, and quiet wisdom added such depth to our horseback adventures. The horses themselves were incredible—well-trained, gentle, and incredibly strong. They carried us through some of the most stunning landscapes we’ve ever seen, from rolling hills to crystal-clear rivers and snow capped peaks. Every ride was thoughtfully planned, with a perfect balance of exploration and serenity.

      One of our favorite adventures ever!

      This will forever be one of our favorite adventures! My husband and I had dreamed of horseback riding in Patagonia, and this trip was everything we hoped for — and more. If you’re thinking about booking, do yourself a favor and go for it!

      We left Ivan and Liza this morning, and we’re still in awe of how incredible the whole experience was. They are the most welcoming and warm-hearted people, making us feel at home from the start. The horses? Absolutely amazing. Not once did I feel unsafe while riding — my horse was perfect! Ivan has an incredible gift for matching each rider with the right horse, and I couldn’t have asked for a better companion on the trail. I only wish I could have taken mine home! That said, the horses truly have the best life at Lago Puelo.

      We’re already dreaming of coming back one day because this trip was simply the best. Camping up in the mountains, gathering around the bonfire in the evenings — it was all so raw, authentic, and breathtakingly beautiful. Exactly what we were looking for!

      Wonderful horse riding holidays

      Everything was perfect:

      Personal pickup at Lago Puelo bus station followed by a warm welcome at Liza and Ivan’s home. The room was very clean and comfy, you have your private space within the family house.

      Every single meal was delicious and prepared by Liza with local food (mostly from their farm and garden).

      The horses are amazing: well taken care of and trained, they will take you up the mountains on trials you would never imagine possible!

      The rides were perfect too: either through prestige forests or up the mountains with breathtaking views, I had it all.

      In a nutshell, unforgettable experience with a lovely family taking care of you.

      Absolutely perfect few days

      If you are looking for a sign to book a horse riding experience in Patagonia - this is it!

      We had the most perfect 6 days with lovely people, delicious food and amazing views. I was a little nervous about the riding as I have never ridden for such a long time but Ivan was so encouraging and helpful, his horses are wonderful they are very sturdy and sure footed with great natures (and all absolutely beautiful!). The camping was such a highlight for us, it was amazingly beautiful and peaceful. Every single thing Liza cooked was spectacular. This is family run and you can really tell as so much time and care is taken with every detail, from Ivan producing the most delicious home made salami for a picnic over looking the lake, to Liza’s delicious cooking using produce from her own garden, to their adorable and helpful daughters. We don’t speak Spanish and all the families English is impeccable. Javier came on the treks with us and he was incredibly kind and gentle, always offering me mate and making sure I was alright (even though we don’t speak Spanish). The area is so stunning and Ivan and Liza did everything they could to make our time amazing, I cannot recommend this experience enough. If you are nervous about the riding don’t be! They will take care of you. Their place is also not difficult to get to, just fly into Bariloche then take a bus. You will not regret booking this. Thank you so much Liza and Ivan!!

      Exceeded expectations

      Everything was wonderful! Liza and Ivan are such a kind and thoughtful couple who truly go above and beyond for their guests and horses. The accommodations are gorgeous, right next to the national park, offering beautiful views. The homemade food was delicious, each meal was a treat! The riding experience was both technical and enjoyable, with stunning scenery along the way. The horses are well-behaved and clearly well cared for. I would highly recommend this experience 100% and would definitely love to return. Thank you so much for everything!

      A must do for horse lovers, stay as long as you can!

      There are many 'cabalgatas' in this part of the world, and it can be hard to say from websites which are the good ones. So I just got extremely lucky when I booked this one! I could not even have imagined how good this was going to be. Lisa was very helpful when I was arranging my arrival. Everything went so smoothly, they are very experienced, professional and organised. Accommodation is excellent, property very well maintained. The rides are.... Wow, incredible, the horses so perfect, looking after you, and smart. A privilege to see this part of the world. Ivan keeps checking on you to ensure you are ok and adapts to your riding level. Lisa's cooking is brilliant. The daughters are very well mannered and involved in hosting the guests. I only wish... I had stayed longer. Leaving was so hard!! They speak English fluently which is good for tourists, and keeping groups small makes you feel like you belong more. Well done Liza and Ivan on what you have created - it's unique. Definitely, my favorite ride ever.

      Best horseriding experience ever !

      This was a trip to remember. From the beautiful landscapes, the lake, the moubtains, the perfect location in the national park, the beautiful fat happy horses, the fantastic organic food, the amazing people who are Liza and Ivan. The only issue is that after doing this horseriding trip at Ivan & Liza’s property , it will be hard to find anything better haha , cos it was that excellent. Do yourself a favor and book now.

      The best riding holiday ever in Argentina

      Ivan, Liza ,Javier and Paulo were all so excellent, helpful and very thoughtful hosts. The horses were so well looked after and trained to look after their riders on the most challenging of terrains. The scenery was stunning and I would recommend the overnight stay in the mountains for a true Gaucho experience.

      Liza is an excellent cook and host. I am gluten intolerant and I have never been looked after as well and made such delicious homemade meals before. Cakes/pizzas/pasta all WOW

      The trip of a lifetime

      This trip was incredible from start to finish, if you are questioning whether to book it on not, here is your sign! Ivan, Liza and their daughters made me feel comfortable and welcome right from the start, I was a little nervous getting there on my own but Liza was very responsive to all my questions on whatsapp which was great.

      The horses are all beautifully trained and looked after and clearly very happy, making them a delight to ride. Ivan was completely in tune with all of his horses whilst being very relaxed, he even let us pick which horse we would like to ride each day. The rides were unbelievable, I loved crossing the rivers and riding through the forests, the horses are all very sure-footed so you feel very safe and the scenery was breathtaking from every angle.

      However, this was so much more than just a riding holiday. The location is stunning and peaceful, just on the edge of the national park (I would recommend swimming in the lake). Liza and Ivan have a beautiful home full of homemade and handmade food, crockery, apple juice, chopping boards and the list goes on. The food was incredible, Liza somehow predicting exactly what we wanted after hours in the saddle. Liza also came into town with us to translate and help us buy some local clothing, and even invited a couple of my friends who happened to be in the area round for dinner.

      On the trail…

      Harmony of men, horses and wilderness…with views You will not forget… Your horse - partner on the trail will take You safely there. Guides who know these mountains and paths not marked on the map will lead You to the places with the most wonderful views to the peaks all year covered with snow contrasting with blue lagoon of the lake. Lenga forest will offer You warmth even in the cold mountain nights. Shining pink berries among green bushes or black fruits of the trees will surprise You with their taste. Supper after all day trail prepared on the fire tastes best while river offering refreshing shower. When You come back from wilderness to civilisation, the healthy food made with love and evening among a worthy company … will wait for You and make You feel like home.

      If mountain paths are not fast enough for You and You feel like You wanna taste a bit of galloping in traditional comfortable saddle or herd horses to meadow - You can do it on the ranch.

      During my stay I felt cared of like having my family on the track.

      Beyond expectations

      Ivan and Liza run an *amazing* program! Liza is half Scottish and teaches English at a local school, so her and her family's English is perfect. Ivan is a bonafide Argentinian horseman from the top of his head to the soles of his feet... and a kind, friendly gentleman to boot! The trail rides are mostly through rugged, heavy forest and are stunningly beautiful. They often conclude at a vista with a breathtaking view. The room is clean and comfortable. Food is hot and tasty! Our trip honestly couldn't have been any better. 5 full stars.

      Highly recommended horseback experience in the Andes

      We have just returned from a fantastic horseback riding adventure with Ivan and Liza. It was a once in a lifetime experience in the high Andean wilderness in a magnificent setting with beautiful views. We particular enjoyed the camping in the mountains. The five day tour has been intelligently put together with opportunity not only to climb (from 200m to the snow level at 1500m above sea level) with the horses but also to do some cantering in the valley. The horses are strong, healthy and well cared for by Ivan and his team. They are responsive and were a pleasure to ride. Both Ivan and Liza looked after our every wish and spared no effort to ensure that we were comfortable. The homemade cooking and barbecues were excellent and the accommodation was good. We highly recommend this tour.
