Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival.
Day 2 (28 kilometers)
To begin with, you will have enough time to get to know your horse. The first riding day is characterized by long gallops through the forest. The elevated terrain of the Rudnik Mountains provides a serene and picturesque setting for your ride, allowing you to explore the natural beauty of the region. During your ride, keep an eye out for Serbian wildlife. The Rudnik Mountains are home to various species, including turtles, foxes, and salamanders. Spotting these animals in their natural habitat can be a memorable part of your adventure.
Along the way, you will come across local villages where you can stop for refreshments. Lunch break is enjoyed near a field of wildflowers. End your day at a horse paradise, a ranch where horses roam freely. Enjoy their company, relax by the campfire, and indulge in savoring homemade Serbian food prepared by your hosts.
Day 3 (30 kilometers)
Start your ride with exhilarating long gallops, crossing the volcanic formation called "Treska." In the afternoon, take a break with a view of grazing horses and enjoy a traditional Serbian lunch featuring Pita pies, a delicious pastry filled with various ingredients such as cheese, meat, or vegetables. Continue your ride through the famous mountain "Vujan” that offers scenic trails through the elevated terrain and open spaces where you can enjoy longer gallops, experiencing the thrill of riding through the stunning landscape. You will then be transferred to Belgrade airport.
About the tour
Exploring the area on horseback is a unique experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural surroundings and enjoy the tranquility of the area. The trail takes place from April to October. It offers six full days of riding (around six to eight hours in the saddle and 30 kilometers per day, and around 200 kilometers in total). Your hosts are true role models of Serbian hospitality, which is known for its warmth, generosity, and welcoming nature. They are willing to go above and beyond to make riding guests feel at home.
You will experience a strong sense of community as Serbia Trail is like a holiday among friends. Thus, the trial is also ideal for solo travelers. The trail is for experienced riders only, who are comfortable and confident in the saddle. The weight limit for each rider should be 90 kilograms; however, if you weigh above 90 kilograms, you would still be able to ride, with extra charges, as Serbia Trail would use multiple horses to support your riding journey.
Horses
The horses are Balkan Mountains Serbian breeds. They are a versatile and hardy breed that has adapted to the rugged terrains and harsh climates of the Balkan Mountains. They are medium-sized horses with a strong build, a compact body, well-muscled legs, and a sturdy frame. Horses are in very good condition, they have a calm and gentle temperament, therefore being very cooperative and easy to handle. During the trails, they are known for their endurance and resilience. They have strong hooves and surefootedness, making them suitable for navigating challenging mountain trails. They are ridden with Western saddles.
Luggage transfers
To make the riding experience as relaxing as possible for riders and horses, the luggage will be transported separately and will be available as soon as you arrive at each location.
