It has lovely newly renovated open plan living and dining room with French doors into the garden. There is a covered braai patio in the garden. The kitchen is old-fashioned farm style with everything you need to self cater and space to store snacks and drinks etc.

Program

You can be involved in the day to day care of the horses as well as riding, it is up to you to take what you need and want from being with Wild Coast Horse Riding Adventures.

The interconnection between horses and people is an integral part of their beliefs, the environment, and the way that they work with the horses and the visiting riders. Therefore, horsemanship is geared towards gentle interaction and communication with equine friends. The horses work hard, and they expect the best from them.

It is their responsibility to ensure that they live in the most comfortable and natural way possible to enable them to do their job to the very best of their abilities. Bring along your spirit of adventure and a love of the great outdoors and escape to the horse-filled life in South Africa. The horses are much loved; they are a mixture of Arab, Boerperd, Thoroughbred, and Percheron crosses that are perfect for trail riding. You will be delighted by how gentle, well-trained, and friendly they are!

The trail team is kept endurance fit to be able to complete the adventure trails along the coast, while the younger horses are brought on carefully with groundwork and schooling. Daily routine

The horses live out 24/7 in paddocks situated at the Kei Mouth Country Club about 2.5 kilometers from where they live. You'll go to the yard every day at 8 a.m., and bring the horses in for feeding, grooming, and checking. The rest of the morning is spent riding and schooling the horses or taking out any beach rides that are booked.

After lunch rides depend on how hot it is and in winter, you need to be back before the sunsets. The horses are fed again in the afternoon and turned out for the night.

2-week stay

2 weeks is the minimum length of stay on the Equestrian Connection riding holiday as it is then long enough for you to get to know Wild Coast Horse Riding Adventures and the horses and do lots of riding. You can choose to include a mini beach trail during the 2 weeks.

Besides helping out at the morning stable, you will get to do all the lovely outrides around Kei Mouth and Morgan Bay as well as the day rides over the river to the waterfalls and another time to Trennerys for a pub lunch. There is time for beach and nature walks, and there will be at least one trip up the Kei River on the barge, The Fish Eagle.

For the brave, you can also join Clint on a deep-sea fishing/photo trip. One thing they know for sure is that when it's time to leave, you will wish that you had stayed longer.

Please note all riding and itineraries are subject to change due to variations in local conditions, hotel accommodation availability, rider’s abilities, the weather, and the influences of the sea tides and during the rainy season the conditions of the rivers at the time of riding.

Wild Coast Horse Riding Adventures has a lovely selection of horses that suit a wide range of riding abilities from novice level up. Riding a horse does require a degree of natural fitness and balance. Beginner riders can be accommodated and will be given basic riding lessons to get them comfortable and proficient in the saddle.
